Ee Nami is a pretty cool, pretty authentic Japanese restaurant inside of Diane shopping center off of Clairemont Mesa Blvd. The shop is a bit small, but they do also have bar and outdoor seating. It gets a bit crowded, especially on weekends, so it’s a good idea to call ahead and make a reservation.

Wow, just wow. Excellent place to eat all sorts of Japanese cuisine. Their menu is pretty extensive whether you’re looking for sushi or sashimi offerings or specific things like tonkatsu or karaage. There’s so much that you’ll have to come back to try something else. Preparation of our entrees was just a chef’s kiss and we couldn’t have left the restaurant so excited for a great meal. The staff are polite and professional. They are following current Covid guidelines. Recommended.

This place is super popular. Better to reserve in advance or get there early. I had pork loin which is crispy but rather taste less. The Japanese yam and crab ikura is a bit salty.

I reached the restaurant at 9.22pm and the lady was so kind to take my to-go order.

$64 for theee two dishes if I am not mistaken. Why their katsu is heavy on Shiokosho (salt and pepper)?! The katsu is a bit on dry side

First visit and this is the best Katsu in the area I have had so far. Quite similar to what you would find in Japan. Great quality meat as well as seafood made into crispy Katsu perfection. Service was friendly. Highly recommend!!

Delicious selection of perfectly fried katsu dishes and other dishes to share. The restaurant can fill up quickly, so I highly recommend getting in for an early dinner or you may be waiting.

I’m so happy I got to try this while visiting San Diego. A rare, truly authentic Japanese katsu experience! The texture on their katsu is just like how the best places in Japan do it – “light” in volume but big in crispiness. The pork is thick and not pounded thin because they know how to cook it properly so it stays juicy. The scallops in the deluxe katsu were especially fantastic. Curry tasted good with a little kick!

This is so good! I have always been a big fan of Tonkatsu (deep-fried pork cutlet). And this place is making it in the right way! Tasted great! And I love the combination of pork fillet, shrimp and scallop. Give you more flavors. Reasonable price.

We made a reservation for 8 and sat outside in their patio under a heater. It was cold so we ordered genmaicha tea which is Japanese green tea with toasted brown rice.
