Thank God for Google because it brought me to this fantastic place on my last day in Jackson, MS. The customer service Mr. Slim provided was amazing. Then comes the food and lawd hammercy, that fish was fried to perfection. I ordered the fish dinner and it came with 4 catfish filets, fries, bread, and a salad. It smelled and tasted so fresh. I told Mr. Slim I wasn’t from around there and he educated me briefly on the history of the place since they opened in 1981 and pointed me to a spot where I could eat my food while it was hot and fresh. I will gladly sit in that car line every time I am in Jackson, MS to get me a fish plate from Eddie & Rubye’s Snack Bar.

You want the best tasting fish in Jackson, this is the place. The ordering process is a little different but the fish is definitely fresh, tasty and good. Every time I’m in Jackson I stop by. Something to remember, make sure you check the hours of operation. They are closed a couple of days through the week.

This is the BEST spot for fried fish! We never miss a chance to stop when traveling from New Orleans and grabbing several plates of fried pantrout! Slim, who takes the order is amazing. He always greet us with a pleasant attitude and our food comes out fresh and hot!

All I can say is, do yourself a favor and visit this family owned establishment. They’ve been a staple in the West Jackson community since I was young and the fish is still amazing and unmatched. Anytime, I have family and friends come back home to Jackson, this is their first requested stop for fresh fried fish. Even with me staying in North Jackson, it’s worth the drive. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, you have to sit in your vehicle and place your order. Which to me is a bonus, since the weather is so unpredictable at times. The gentleman that takes your order, has always been pleasant and helpful when I’ve visited. My food comes out hot and fresh every time. A tip well deserved.

I have been a loyal customer for years. I have overlooked the guy who is outside and takes the money RUDE and Nasty attitude on several occasions, but this evening he stepped over the line. After attending the Honor Convocation at Thee I Love, I told my daughter I wanted to buy fish. He took my order and my daughter asked about chicken wings. He yelled “I sale fish”. I told him there was a time when Eddie’s sold chicken wings. I paid for my order and waited for him to bring it to my daughter’s car. The fish was horrible. I asked for crispy but it was over cooked. The bread had a hole in it as if an employee got hungry and took a bite out of it. My container had holes in it and the bottom of the container was full of oil. I truly believe he did all of this on purpose because of the comment I made about the chicken wings. I do not plan on EVER going back.
