Brought here by a native Texan who made the bold claim that this would be the best brisket I ever had. Naturally, we had to put that claim to the test, and bah gawd if this place doesn’t go on a recieve a Texas-sized 10-4 from me! This place has great food, great atmosphere, and the amazing smell of wood smoke as you walk in and out. Do yourself a favor and get your honorary Texas self down here and get some a this here brisket!

Incredible space! There are games. Plenty of outdoor seating and some indoor seating as well. Family-friendly atmosphere. They sell both beer and cotton candy.

Brilliant concept & great use of space to have so much outdoor seating. Brisket was very good along with red dipping spread – spread on tacos with a fork. We will come again to try other Q.

Came here for my husband’s birthday lunch and he was very happy with his meal! The vibe here is really cool. I love a great outdoor space and the inside is almost outside because it’s all open. I’m interested to return to try more of the menu. We came on a weekday during an odd hour but I’ve seen long lines around dinner time on the weekends so I don’t know when we’ll be back.

The place is worth a visit, great for families. Our boys loved it, the food was also good. The quality is there, top items was the spicy corn side dish (elote) but better, the salad and the grilled cheese. You will spend some money here, I’d say the quality and location reflects the price, so expect at least $20 an adult.

Finally got to try East of Texas tonight. I’m a huge fan of Texas-style barbecue. I got the Del Rio pulled pork tacos, my fiance got the brisket salad. The meat on both were juicy, tender and just the right amount of smoke. The cilantro lime dressing on the salad was bright and delicious. The slaw on the tacos had just enough vinegar to add some tang, but not overpower the meat. Portions were HUGE! Plenty of meat on both, with just the right amount of everything else, very well balanced. We had a couple of drink specials; “Wreck It Rum Punch” and “Honey Burbonade.” Both were strong enough to taste the alcohol, but portioned very well with the mixers. Excellent on both accounts.

Brisket sandwich was huge, so was the side order of tots. Place converted from a service station? There were 5 openings thru bay doors and seating area felt like a plane hanger. Ceiling fans were the biggest I have seen! Lot of room outside with tables , chairs and lights. Ample parking. Great ambiance. Service was friendly and fast. Food was excellent and so was the sides. Not giving 5 stars bc meat was a little overdone and not as juicy like I’ve had in Texas & NC before. But overall I do highly recommend this location.

I’m a 4th generation Texan who has lived in Austin, TX for 20 years. I am very picky about my bbq. I only like Franklin’s and my husband’s. We were very impressed with the brisket at East of Texas. It was really good. It jiggled, just how I like it. My cocktail was on the tiny side. It was all ice. At least they carried Austin Eastcider. I’ll just stick to cider next time. There was a line, but it moved quickly. There were plenty of tables, games, and best of all, shade. We will definitely be back.
