This place is awesome. Friendly staff and patrons! I ordered the Duke’s cheeseburger with the house made chips (which I recommend over the fries). The cheeseburger was well prepared and picture perfect when it was delivered to our table. Highly recommend Duke’s.

5++++ This lunch today was amazing. I have lived in the area for a year now and never walked into Duke’s. Can’t believe I have been passing this gem without walking in. First it could be said it has a classic old Hawaiian restaurant feel, I did have a place on the Big Island (Favorites Hawaii Style Cafe and Seafood Bar), but Duke’s is truly a Classic Ventura Surf Cafe. Second the food was fabulous fries cooked to perfection and the Burger WOW. Thirdly the staff was incredibly friendly made me feel like I was family. That had me park my bike safely in the comfy patio area. We’re talking couches, pet water bowls, with chicken breast and burger patties for the pups on request. Now the inside had a nice bar with sports on great monitors and a lot of cozy booths and tables. Now the kicker was when kitchen staff asked me how my burger was! Never in my life except at Le Meurice Paris.

My wife & I stopped for lunch. Great local atmosphere. Very clean and well organized. The servers were very friendly & helpful. My wife had the nachos. She liked the nachos as they put the pico de gallo on the side for her. Good guacamole. I had the fish & chips. Very good Cod. The breading was light. The fries were good. I can recommend this place for a good lunch, relaxed bar atmosphere.

If you want a great burger on the beach without the pretentious atmosphere this is a place you have to try. Had the whole ball of wax burger with the house potato chips. Honestly if they sold the chips by themselves they would put ruffles out of business. They are that good. The burger was great. Well cooked. Seasoned great and just the right size. The place is a typical surfers diner. So not super upscale seats and such, but that would be so out of place here it wouldn’t work. The ambiance the food and the people all work together. This is definitely a locals spot however they will welcome you and not all local spots will do that. There is an outdoor patio which allows well behaved pets on leashes. It is kid friendly with a pinball machine and some various arcade games in the back. They have a couple local beers on tap and a few nationwide breweries. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

The clam chowder bread bowl had some of the best clam chowder I’ve ever tasted. The fish and chips were very good as well. I especially liked the tarter sauce. There was something in the ingredients that made it seem extra-fresh. As we were leaving, the employee at the register gave us some good ideas of places to visit while here in Ventura.

Absolutely going to visit this restaurant again and again. It was my first visit and I had a difficult time choosing the burger I wanted as all of them looked delicious. I chose the BSM with French fries. I also splurged and ordered the cup of chili and an order of onion rings (I’m on vacation). Everything was delicious! Dukes also has a great vibe to it and a bar that I want to spend some time at in the future.

Stopped by for a meal while we’re up by the beach, had a fantastic burger called I think the Bronx Burger, pastrami on a cheeseburger it was very delicious. Fries are absolutely great. The people that work there were very nice, food came out pretty quick, everybody in the restaurant seem to be pretty chilled with a mixture of locals and tourists.
