Great Chinese food. Great service. The waiter that always says “Chinese water” love that guy lol. Very filling & yummy. It is pricey but it’s worth it.

Dragon East, culinary wise, is no different than most Chinese restaurants on the CT Shoreline = average or 2.5 stars. If all you know are restaurants from Branford to old Saybrook, then you will rate this 4 stars and above. The food is average, the menu is the same as most restaurants and the food is catered to those who have limited experience with Chinese food aka the typical CT shoreline diner. Expect a lot of sugar, a lot of salt and food drenched in sauces. We are a family of 5, and we tried Dragon East because our other Chinese restaurant of choice in New Haven was closed for the holiday. We ordered 5 main dishes, a side of fried rice, scallion pancakes and a Scorpion bowl for two and the total bill with tip was $145 which is average cost compared to other restaurants. The food, as stated above, was typical which means average.

Constantly great for the last 25 years at least and getting better each day! Their mixed drinks are awesome.

Prompt service, good food with Dunkin Donut’s straws in a Scorpion Bowl! Not long enough and not their straws . Overall 3.5 star ⭐️ experience.

Food is decent! The only thing I would go back in time and not buy is their fried wontons.I looked now and it says “pan fried” on the menu rather than just fried but I was not expecting to see like… wontons cooked general tso sauce. The texture of this dish is not crispy at all and reminded me of reheated gen tso/sweet sour chicken. Somehow soggy but tough at the same time (they weren’t off or anything! Just not at all what we expected ). If you have special requests for for item or your order in general: I reccomend calling or ordering in person: asked for cold sesame noodles spicy and they just had sauce and sliced cucumber, the sauce was good but not spicy. Also, if you want chopsticks ask at the time of pickup- asked for 2 pair chopsticks and NO soy/duck/mustard sauces or forks. Got every sauce, 2 forks no chopsticks. For what we got it was a little expensive but they have a style of their own that’s a little more interesting than some other take out chinese restaurants we have tried.

Great food! Extremely large portions, not receive. Many vegetarians choices as well. It is a bit on the pricier side with. So worth it. If you like authentic Chinese food. You definitely will have leftovers for days. It is the only place I will get Chinese food from.

Our waiter was extremely friendly and service was beyond reproach. Our dinner was supposed to be spicy disappointingly it wasn’t. It

Al was a great waiter with great humor and very helpful. We had Happy Family, sesame chicken and udon noodles with pork. All were excellent. Not like your average Chinese takeout. MUCH BETTER! French Martini and Manhattan were delicious.
