The new location of Dough Co Pizza in Ankeny is clean and quaint. If your eating in you can park in the front or out back they have doors on both sides! Walkup up the counter and order from the menu, grab a drink and a number then go sit and wait (not a long wait either). There is not a ton of seating in house – I am guessing about 25 seats at various sized tables and another 10 at a bar. A couple of TVs if you want to watch something on TV. Most of the seating provide a clear view of the food prep and cooking area. So you can see your meal being created! We have had the bread sticks, meatballs and a few of the pizzas. The New York style crust is awesome.

We really loved this place. Visited this past Saturday around 11:30am and found only 2 other couples inside, but by time we left nearly an hour later – the place was almost full. So, plan your mealtime wisely. Dough Co. is pretty new, so I cannot say enough about how clean the place was. Even the restrooms were clean, and they didn’t have that “restroom” odor either. Ample parking on surrounding streets, as well as in the lot behind the store. Please, don’t complain if you have to walk one block to this place, as the Prairie Trail business area is getting to be more crowded all the time.

Definitely an underwhelming pizza.. the crust was hard and tough to chew and the pizza itself was even chewy and tough. Definitely not what I expected. The cheese sticks were good though. Not a pizza I’d get again honestly.

My wife and I went for dinner last night. We decided to take the pizza to go because we don’t like not being waited on when we dine out. We ordered a couple drinks while we waited for our pizza. The kid taking orders was very inexperienced and did not posses very good people skills. The open kitchen design allows you to really enjoy the hip-hop music the cooks are dancing to, if you are into that sort of thing. One of the cooks gave use an order of garlic bread sticks because he made an extra order, which was nice. It sort of offset the price of the pizza and drinks. I was not impressed by the pizza…the sauce was good but, the crust was about 2-3” all the way around the pizza. The pizza would be pretty good if, they added more sauce and toppings. I had two pieces, my wife had one….the rest went in the trash. Our tab for an 18” pizza and two drinks was over $50….kind of steep in my opinion. Oh well, we tried it!

This place is my absolute favorite spot to eat out. Sometimes, it’s twice a week. The management as well as most of the staff we’ve interacted with have been phenomenal at customer interaction. I love that I can have a gluten free crust, and every pizza I’ve tried has been to die for. If you’ve never had the taco, I highly suggest you do, it’s the best I’ve ever had. The salads are amazing, and good sized. The shop is always clean, and a cozy. I would give 20 stars if I could.

This pizza place is SO GOOD (if you’re able to eat a slice of pizza the size of your face, which I have recently learned I am in fact capable of) They also have vegan AND gluten free options so I don’t have to feel or look nine months pregnant after shoving my face with all the carbs. While the food is great the service is even better, the staff is so so friendly and helpful and they make the little wait for fresh pizza seem like no time at all 🙂

Breadsticks are amazing but they were 15 minutes late to my order. Thats not bad but it ended up being 50 minutes because they didn’t say my name to the customers, the worker just mumbled it to the workers. They made up for the mistake with a gift card but the workers all seemed very stressed. Everyone else was getting their orders at least 30 minutes late. Food tastes amazing though, it has all of the stuff you want on it.

Their pizza is solid, but do yourself a favor and get one of their sandwiches. The Italian will blow your socks off. I’ve now systematically tried pretty much all of their sandwiches and haven’t met one I don’t like. They have quickly become my favorite restaurant in town. Highly recommend.
