Great little pizza nook in Decatur. Had a side salad with their in-house Ranch dressing, and a 10″ thin crust Chicken Pesto pizza. Also ordered the Hibiscus tea.

Hands down the BEST vegan Rueben sandwich that I’ve ever had. The seitan is perfect, excellent mix of ingredients and large portions. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to try a savory vegan take on this classic or for the plant based connoisseur. You won’t be disappointed

I have always loved their pizza, but the brunch was next level. Their new location is so cozy and the food is luxurious! We will be regular brunchers here!

The waiter was very nice, and it was very peaceful in there. I ordered the deep dish Philly steak pizza. It took 45 minutes to get my food, then when it arrived I was very disappointed. The crust was very bland, very dry and tasted like flour. I expected more toppings and sauce, but really just got a lot of crust. After spending a lot, asked for a drink to go and got a flat pop with no straws available. On the upside, the garlic cheese bread was really good and my dog absolutely loved the crust. The server was really nice, just not going to go back for a deep dish.

Donnie’s homemade pizza and salads feature rare in-house smoked meats including salmon and prosciutto – and they are DELICIOUS! Specialty meats sell out quickly after they’re on the menu, and the salad dressings are freshly made from scratch, unlike most every other Decatur restaurant in town. Owner Neill Dresden negotiated to obtain hard to find family recipes from Italian families who have ensured their pizza crust is better than any mainstream pizza company in Central Illinois, and yes – they use different crust recipes for thin crust and deep dish. If you’re not in a meat eating mood, they also serve the only quality vegan / vegetarian options that I’m aware of in Decatur. The atmosphere is also familial, and the staff will go above and beyond to handle birthday requests, inspiring everyone in the restaurant to join in with singing and celebrating. Donnie’s embraces the meaning of community to Merchant Street and downtown Decatur. You’ll feel like family when you eat here, and you’ll feel like you belong by showing up.

Donnie’s is my favorite restaurant in Decatur! The food is fresh and tasty. Highly recommend the Sicilian thin crust pizza with in-house smoked prosciutto. The in-house smoked salmon salad with basil berry hemp vinaigrette was so refreshing. I love that Donnie’s has healthy options which I struggle to find in Decatur. The staff is welcoming and friendly, there is plenty of seating for large groups, and the new location is much easier to get to and find nearby parking.

I had been hearing that Donnies had great pizza and I hadn’t ever even tried it before so being the pizza pizzazz that I am ,having worked in the pizza business for approximately 9 years give or take,I just had to give this place a try. When I ordered I thought the prices were a little steep for pizza, but still yet if it’s excellent then it’s worth it. 12in with 3 topping cost about $25.00 & that’s not including tip. So when I arrived they said it was coming out and the place smelled fantastic so I couldn’t wait! They handed it over and when I got to the car I took a peek. Very disappointing The cheese wasn’t placed properly so it was very minimal in the middle of the pizza, not to mention overcooked. You should always cheese outside in for portioning,, and because when you make the cuts it’s always going to pull a little. The toppings tasted great minus the crunchy cheese but the crust was what disappointed most. It was very thick which I’m good with if it’s flaky, buttery or something but this stuff was like trying to chew through drywall. It was terrible. I had to be the bearer of bad news but I did not enjoy this pizza in the least. Half went to the trash and that was me sharing with someone. I still gave 2 stars because the staff was friendly and the place looked and smelled great.

My husband and I went to Donnie’s tonight for dinner. This was our first visit and the food, service and atmosphere were fantastic! Donnie’s was celebrating their 15 year anniversary and the only regret I have is waiting so long to visit this establishment. Highly recommend!

My friends and I went there and it was the first for all of us. We each ordered separate pizzas. Unfortunately, a couple of our pizza orders got messed up, but they were still very delicious. The wait was a bit long, but I feel that was due to the fact that several of us ordered the deep dish pizza, so it’s understandable for the wait. The owner saw that we had a few things messed up and came to make it right. Overall, it was a nice evening.

Best pizza in town. A bit more expensive than the “fast food” pizza places, but more than worth the money. Great service as well. You can tell very quickly that they care about their work.
