Great food & service. Chips & salsa cost extra now, $4.50. It was such a nice evening, sitting outside on the deck was a must!

Wow! Talk about no customer service. We walked in, the sign says to wait to be seated and a lady from behind the counter says sit over there…. waitress basically drops the menu at our table and says I’ll be back. Food tasted like it was all microwaved. No authentic taste. Wasn’t busy, but took 20 min to get chips and jarred salsa. Chips were overloaded with cheese, so we’re more like mush. Not recommended.

I was skeptical in coming due to many of the reviews, but I thought I’d at least get a beer and check the place out. When I read the reviews on a place I read who wrote the reviews and I note how many reviews they have written. I’m glad I stopped. Sometimes, and especially being from Arizona, no matter how much you love seafood you’ve got to give it a break. Don Jose’s is a welcome respite from seafood in the town of Homer. I had 2 beers, the carnitas dinner and a margarita and was out of there for just under $50. But it was good food. Contrary to other reviews, you must remember where you’re at. I’m sure a sushi restaurant is hard to find in the middle of Nebraska….well I stumbled onto a good find here. The carnitas were cooked very well along with the guacamole that was on the plate…fresh! Rice and refried frioles were well prepared. I sat at the bar and was immediately attended to when I sat down. Food came out in a decent amount of time and was hot. I’m in town for another week, and I will be back.

The beans tasted burned. Not much flavor in anything. Even the margaritas tasted like there was no tequila in them. For two people, $70 won’t be going back. Even charged for chips and salsa which I have never had to pay for before in any Mexican restaurants! Do better!

In far out Alaska, Don Jose serves food that is Mexican-like. The flavors and ingredients are like adjusted to local muted tastes. Still, most dishes will remind you of Mexican food. We ordered guacamole made at the table but got a not very tasty goop with some chips (do not order, make do with the free salsa – ask for the spicy one, it is not spicy).

Used to be a fave, but they’re nickel and diming the customers to death. I get inflation is affecting pricing. Just raise your prices like everyone else instead of cutting into your servers’ tips. They’ve added an additional 4% fee for paying with a card, (sorry, servers) and they’re charging for chips and salsa now. Great for a cash only quick margarita before the movie. No longer a family dining experience. Sad to lose this one.

Favorite margarita in town (mango). Love the street tacos with steak. Service was quick and the food was great.

It’s ok. I’m not a big fan of don joses because of the prices of everything and they have great drinks but everything is like 20$ and there not even worth it. The chips that used to be free are now about 3$ so idk they just don’t put much effort into their work.

I really enjoyed my meal and the dessert! I have lived here 2 years and finally got to eat in and the price was good to top it off. Atmosphere for a Friday night was nice also with very vibrant and upbeat decor as I like my Mexican restaurants. Glad I got to eat there before the summer rush crowds.
