Food tasted very good. Reasonable prices. Excellent desserts. Only one serving staff, which was ok when we visited for lunch, since there were very few customers.

I love places like this when I travel. It was homey, and the food was phenomenal. The owner served me a massive portion of freshly made tortilla chips accompanied by a very mild salsa while I waited, but I didn’t wait longer than 5 minutes for my food. It was all fresh and obviously made with pride and a personal love of food. For dessert, I couldn’t pass up the churros, which were the best I’d ever had! I’ll make it a point to go there again the next time I’m in the area.

Service was decent, but the establishment is in need of updates, bar was dusty outdated, and the ceiling tiles were stained brown. Tacos, beans and rice, as well as the chips and salsa were very good, but the red sauce on everything else was very watery. The beef tostada was sitting in a liquid…either water or grease from the meat I’m guessing? It was too soggy to eat. The kid’s cheese quesadilla was not grilled or anything, just soft and warm like maybe it was microwaved. Not that great of an experience.

Best authentic Mexican food in the Pitt area. Way better than patrons. Better than the places downtown. I’m from Chicagoland area and know what real authentic Mexican food should taste like. Cooks are super fast. I like to time them to see if they can break previous record. Under 10mins every single time. Dining area is very lackluster though. Please add some color and wall hangings. So much more potential.

I had a good time trying Don Jose’s. Maria is a very nice person and wonderful to talk to about the local goings on. I got the Chicken con Crema and I was a little surprised at how liquidy the cream sauce was. The flavor was spot on, but the consistency was off for me. I also got the nachos with beef and the cheese sauce there was also very liquidy. I was disappointed on how the nachos traveled, but that’s on me, I should’ve eaten them there. I’m sure the chips would’ve been crispier had I done that. I was super pleased that the meal came with nachos and salsa included; that was so wonderful and the nachos were perfect!! Overall, I would go there again and try something different.

Small family run place in an odd neighborhood. But hands down the best food and service around. Sadly no liquor license. But we’ve been going the regularly for years and are never disappointed!!

There were really nice, made up for average food. Just a little disappointed because owners are from Mexico, which I have been there numerous times and that’s where I fell in love with Mexican food. This place was average.

Great food selection from a very large menu. Staff is welcoming and attentive. Plenty of parking. There is a step down coming in, I am not sure if a wheelchair would make it.

Went to visit family and stopped here. I am so glad we did. It was the best Mexican I’ve had in the Pittsburgh area. Highly recommend.
