The BBQ and atmosphere were amazing. All the food I tried was excellent. I got the half rack and the meat fell off the bones. I forgot to get a picture before, but I did after. The loaded fries were crispy and tasty, the French onion soup was good, the pulled chicken was delicious. You really can’t go wrong. You can also send or bring them a school banner or item to hang and leave a signed dollar of your stay. A great place for a good meal after hiking or rafting.

I hadn’t been here for a while. Went with some friends after my wife got off the river. (She is a guide). I am an old school Dirty E fan from back when Ron owned it. We all ordered ribs or ribs and chicken combos with various sides. Customer service is lacking just a little bit as our table had to wait on refills before the meal was brought to us. The ribs were fall off the bone good, but the sauce has changed a little bit. I always ask for a side of sauce and that took some time to get to our table as well. I am used to having a manager check on our table at least once during our meal and that didn’t happen either. You know, as I write the review, I was trying to give the staff a little benefit of doubt, but they weren’t that busy….like they didn’t have 50 people waiting and some tables were empty. It will probably be another year or so before we come back…..come on guys, you are better than that, time to up your game a little please!

We are from Cleveland and we’re looking forward to trying some local food. We were so disappointed in the quality of the burgers and the service. We hardly saw our waitress and waited 30+ mins for our drinks. Our apps came out before some of the soda drinks! Burgers were dry pieces of charcoal on a bun. We were told that they could only cook well done… these were way beyond well done. When asked for extra onion on a sandwich, none was given and nothing was done to correct the issue. We were so excited to try Dirty Ernie’s and sadly disappointed. Food was expensive and nothing special.

Much better options in the are. I was not impressed with the ribs or the chicken. It was supposed to be bbq pit. I think my chicken and ribs were both boiled ahead of time instead of slow cooked. Ribs still had the skin on the back thought should be removed. My wife liked the brisket. Wouldn’t recommend, highly unlikely to return. Service was good, wait was short.

I only tried two menu items so I can only speak to them. First was the brisket sandwich and all I can say is wow. The meat was perfectly tender and well spiced, but the real killer here was the tangy barbecue sauce. It was so good I bought four bottles of it. The second dish I tried was the ribs. Though the ribs seemed smaller in size physically than what I’ve typically seen, make no mistake that the flavor was all there. The sauce used on the ribs is different than the brisket which is a shame. The sauce was good but not as good as the brisket sauce, but none the less it was still very good.

I went rafting on the New River a few months back. As you can imagine, I involuntarily swallowed quite a bit of river water. That’s exactly what the food tasted like at Dirty Ernie’s. I think rafting was a better price, too. Service was good though, and it does have a fun atmosphere.

A MUST EAT every time we are in WV. I love the food and the fun atmosphere. The owner and his family are constantly giving back. Big Animal lovers and such giving people; they love supporting all the local shops and eateries in their community, that in itself keeps us coming back every year to support them! WE LOVE DIRTY EARNIES! Don’t forget to buy a cute shirt while you’re in, they are so soft!

World’s okayest burger. Stopped by for nostalgia purposes with some friends and everything on the menu is 9 bucks or higher. I got the tunny burger with bacon asked for ketchup to be added and was told it was on the table, (sorry to be such an inconvenience to the cook) and everything else kinda was downhill from there. Pricing definitely not worth what you’re being served. Gonna try and give it another go and ill post another review, but todays service and food was unsatisfactory.

I never enjoy giving a poor review. I was traveling with my family and asked where a good place to eat was. The locals said dirty ernie’s had really good barbeque. Clearly the locals don’t get out much. I went there on a Saturday night. The place was not packed. Service was fast, friendly and professional. My wife and I ordered their baby back ribs. Awful can not described the ribs. I can only assume, ernie’s is buying a low grade meat, the amount of fat on these back ribs could be cut off. The ribs were not barbequed or smoked, they were boiled thrown on a grill to warm up and covered with sauce. Mine were still cold. I can excuse a restaurant if they are slammed with business, but they were not. The quality off food was poor as well as preparation.

Great food, awesome service, Shana is the best server here. Son lost his tooth during dinner and got a free dollar from Shana to sign and put on the wall! Ribs were amazing!
