I’m so glad we visited this place and it definitely lives up to the old-school-New-York-style pizza hype. I got the plain square slice with tomato and cheese, finished with fresh basil. The simple high quality toppings are absolutely amazing on this pizza and that’s probably why it’s so popular. I probably would stick with a regular thin crust slice next time since the bottom of the square was fairly overdone. Thin crust looked like the way to go.

I went to the Brooklyn location and ordered a regular $5 slice. It was ready in 2 minutes but when I tried it it tasted fresh from the oven. The slice was very thin and not too large as you’ve probably tried at other NYC places. What I loved most was the sauce that gave a special taste and the melted cheese that in some parts was slightly more fried and crispy, super tasty. And of course fresh basil gave it a final touch.

If you like a crunchy crust then this is the best New York slice you’ll find!

Finally after many years of following them I finally made the trip to Brooklyn to go try the staple. I was hoping Maggie would be there to say hi but the stuff were very friendly and helpful.

A must stop for any pizza enthusiast. It tops lists of pizza in the country and for good reason.

Di Fara’s is widely regarded as New York City’s best slice. And I would have to agree that it is certainly in that elite tier of slices this city has to offer. The mozzarella is imported from Caserta, Italy every week, and it truly shows. The slice brings out flavors and feelings that you can only find in Naples. Don’t get it twisted though, this is not a Neapolitan pie, it’s a true-blooded NY style slice. The basil is immediately present, and the oil is prominent, but not overpowering (the way they do it in Naples!). Pro tip: fold the slice in half to unlock extra flavors! Where this slice lacked, however, was clearly the crust. It was dryer than one would hope, a bit tiresome, and not nearly the award-winning experience as the rest of the slice.

Traveled an hour and then waited another hour (call ahead!!) but it was worth it. I mean just look at this photo. The crust is absolutely amazing. The sauce has a wonderful flavor. Pepperonis are crispy and curled. And the fresh basil is the cherry on top! Want to try their thin crust next time. But this is the best square pizza I’ve had in the city.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Facility was a little run down. One small air unit inside that only cooled what was in front of it. Only a couple of dine in tables. This is a carry out spot for sure. The Star of the show is definitely the traditional NY Slice. A square crust had just come out of the oven when we walked in and they talked us into it. Just not our thing. We love thin and crisp pies. The Margherita was fantastic. Got a slice as soon as it came out of the oven. Good firm slice. Perfect crunch. Light airy and just right. Toppings were solid. Not too much of anything to steal the attention. All the flavors met perfectly in the middle. We had some great pizza in NYC. Di Fara was at the top of the list.

$5 a slice. Pricey for Brooklyn and it’s not even Williamsburg or Dumbo. I taste the basil leaves. The crust is baked to perfection. Sauce & cheese is just right. This is my 2nd attempt at cycling from Long Island to try. It was closed on Monday. The pizza has lived up to all the rave reviews. I am not disappointed. The quality & flavor is omnipresent. A pie is $30 for 8 slices. Mama Mia

It pains me to say this because I love giving great reviews but it’s the absolute worst pizza I’ve ever tried to bite into in my life. My friend drove me to the Brooklyn location for an hour in traffic today on my layover in NY. We were so excited to have this, he said this pizza was truly art and the best in NYC. I ordered two slices one for him one for me. His came, I had to wait 30 minutes for mine as we were running late. Then they asked if they could switch my triangle slice to square , ok fine. When I finally got it the crust was black on the underside and burned to a crisp. My teeth couldnt physically bite through this slice so I came back into the pizzeria and left it there and asked for my money back. They refunded me, I left with a burned taste in my mouth and black char marks on my chin from when I tried to bite into the slice. It’s disgraceful to serve pizza like this, and made my friend very upset for obvious reasons because he felt embarrassed to have brought me there. I even tipped them when I ordered… no words. Gladly this wasn’t my only NYC pizza experience and I know that there are truly great pizzerias around. Don’t soil the owner’s legacy guys, step your game up.
