I played a gig here the other night with The West End Dogs. Friends came and ate dinner. They said the food was excellent, and from what i saw the dishes looked amazing!

Great indoor outdoor seating and food was fantastic (we had Apple Salad with Old Bay shrimp and the Deal burger with the recommended peanut butter – they were not wrong in the menu it was amazing). There is an outdoor bar as well – not crowded (big place). Recommended. Good for kids as well and lots of parking – clean bathrooms.

The service at the bar and tables has never been an issue for me, even during the summer season.

We’ve given this place a couple of tries since it opened but unfortunately received the same poor results. First, the service is painfully slow and obviously disorganized. They seem to struggle getting orders out when the restaurant is barely half-full. The menu offers “starters” but forget starting a meal with those selections. Twice now after waiting 20+ minutes for the apparently time consuming dish known as nachos, and other similarly complex appetizers, the wait staff arrives to dump all entrees and apps on your table at once. As for the food, it’s nothing special. Average at best. I like the atmosphere and the place is close to home, but won’t be going back anytime soon. My sense is just one more place that thinks it can get away with high prices, combined with subpar service and food just because it has a nice location. Given that this restaurant has changed hands many, many times over the last several years, I suspect it won’t last much longer.

Overall rating below average. Arrived at 4:45, hostess told us we could only have a table if we “make it quick” because they had many reservations arriving within a half hour. Okay no problem, so we sat at the bar. The server was nice, and that’s where it ends. I wasn’t impressed by anything we ate. Drinks came out right away, but we waited more than 20 minutes for pretzel appetizer that was served still cold in the middle. Then we ordered “fish and chips” to share and were served two pieces of overly-fried shriveled up tasteless fish with three wedges of potato. Wow, seriously? Overpriced, underwhelming food. We were there about an hour and when we left none of the “reserved” tables were occupied. I don’t understand the need for reservations here anyway. It’s a sports bar with your typical bar food. I’m usually willing to give a place a second try but I don’t think $75 is worth another visit to Bar & Co. McGillicuddy’s was so much better but alas, all good things must come to an end.

This place is nice, if a little pricey. Decided to get the special, pulled pork tacos for $18. Was 2 tacos. Needed to order more food which basically doubled my meal cost. Ordered calamari. The coconut lemongrass dipping sauce tasted “off”. Maybe next time I’ll stick to a burger.

Nice environment & great service but the food is mediocre at best. I had the tuna melt which was greasy, not “melted” and served on generic supermarket sliced bread. Every diner in NJ does a better tuna melt. The sweet potato fries were decent but not hot or even warm when served. Service was attentive & enthusiastic so it’s too bad about the subpar food.
