Overpriced, odd seasoning and cold fries. Spending over $30 for four heavily seasoned, greasy chicken strips and cold fries felt like poor value. With so many chicken places around, Dave’s Hot Chicken ranks low on my list, so I don’t plan on returning.

Daves in Lake Mary opened today and we made sure to be there first thing! Service was fast and staff was very friendly. Food is absolutely amazing! Will most definitely be going back 🙂 also, I know people say size doesn’t matter, but their Dave’s sauce packets are definitely up to my standards!

Watch out for the tip!! This came highly recommended by a friend who claimed it was on par with Hatty B’s in Nashville — quite a claim. It’s been open for a week so I gave it a try for lunch. The food was really good. It’s a little more than other chicken fast food options, but the portion sizes are large. I had the tender and slider which filled me up. Don’t get caught out by the tip option. I chose a custom tip and was going to enter $1.50, which would have been 10% (quite enough for fast food IMHO). However the machine registered this as $150 – yes, one hundred and fifty dollars. Anyway, the food is good!

It looks cool but stops there. We ordered take out for 4 people, was $84.xx. The staff was less than excited, the girl was almost annoyed we kept ordering things. The fries were soggy, I was the only one in my family to actually eat my chicken- I just took the bread off. The boxes were dirty, greasy and bagged poorly. The Mac n cheese reminded me of school Mac n cheese with some seasoning thrown in for color. I don’t normally leave reviews, but I couldn’t wrap my head around how much of a negative experience this was.

Great service and atmosphere. The interior is very nice and spread. The service is great and fairly fast. The food is pretty good. Vegetarian options are limited to Mac and cheese and fries (obviously because this is a chicken place). The Mac and cheese tastes slightly better than normal fast food Mac and cheese. The fries are seasoned but they are typical fast food fries and aren’t different than what you would typically expect. Drive through is a little slow and backs up into long lines at peak hours. Nice indoor and outdoor seating. Dev is my favorite employee (give him a raise).
