Hidden gem in Mechanicsville. This was our first time dining here, won’t be our last. It was surprisingly empty, but it was a Wednesday evening. We were the only patrons in the restaurant at the time, so the waitress was very attentive. The menu is extensive and has a great variety in comparison to other basic Mexican fares. The portions of the dinner plates we ordered were huge. They are literally served on a serving platter not a regular sized dinner plate. The entrees came with French fries, which is what influenced my choice. The rice was nice and fluffy. The ranchero sauce on my filete de pescado was amazingly flavorful with the right amount of spice. The fish was properly cooked. However, the drinks are pricey- the margaronas/coronaritas are 17$. I am surprised by the negative reviews because we enjoyed our dinner and are excited to be coming back to try the Botanas specialties.

We have been here 3 times! The first 2 experiences were great! Tonight it was horrible. Terrible service!! The food was okay, not as good as the other 2 times. A drink was spilled on my husband. The waitress was not attentive at all. We had to go and physically find her and ask for what we needed. All of the servers we had in the past were wonderful!! When I ordered I told them to cook my daughter’s chicken nuggets and fries lightly. They were burnt and I was still charged for them even though she didn’t eat them. When you spend $100 for 3 people, you should walk out happy! Total waste of money for Father’s day dinner. The food also made me sick immediately. We won’t be back!! Do better if you wanna charge these prices.

Used to be very good, but the service & quality of the food has went way down in past year+ I stopped eating there after 3 bad experiences. Gave them that many tries because they used to be so good & was hoping the bad was a fluke.

Great experience! I went with 3 other friends. I am personally not a big fan of seafood. The big platters are enough to share for 4-6 ppl. We ordered 1 Mariscada Dashiel, 1 Large Ceviche Mixto and 1 Crab Legs 1.5lbs Ajillo Style. We couldn’t finish everything keep in mind my other 3 friends are huge seafood fans. Our server Julio was very attentive and 2 of my friends are Hispanic and enjoyed discussing the orders in Spanish. The bartender was very helpful with the drinks choices too. We definitely will be back here again.

The flavor of the good was food, but the service was awful. They were out of chips, rice among other things. Table was dirty when we sat down on it, and prices are on the high side. Service attention needs to improve.

MUST READ!!! Finally a Mexican restaurant in mechanicsville that gets your order correct and has good beer on price, and wine thats good for me and my wife’s tastes. The food was quick and really good. They also had great staff that made sure that you were always getting what you wanted. So a must to go support a local restaurant! And a very clean place and nice environment. For the beer people check out the jar you will get your money’s worth!

I really want to love this restaurant, it’s got a diverse menu that is not just like every other Mexican restaurant in town. I’ve eaten there twice in about a six week period because I know that everywhere can have a bad day or week so I didn’t want to pass judgement after one visit. Food was great. Only complaint is that the staff could have been trained a little better and there wasn’t a dedicated bar tender. I’ll mark it off as being a Tuesday with short staffing. I would definitely go back again. No chips before dinner.
