Experience authentic Mediterranean flavors enhanced by an Iraqi flair at DarSalam (the House of Peace). The decor transports you straight to the ancient city of Babylon, while the soothing melodies create a serene ambiance. Delight in expertly cooked dishes like the succulent lamb shanks, flavorful Khema, and perfectly spiced mixed grills. And to complete your culinary journey, indulge in their renowned Iraqi tea infused with cardamom.

This is a great place for Middle-Eastern fare. They have a full bar and unique house cocktails. A large dining area. We made a reservation for a 7pm dinner but probably didn’t need one, though the place was lively – just not 100% full. Food was spectacular. The beef kebabs were some of the best I’ve ever had. Can’t recommend the food highly enough.

Was very satisfied with my experience at DarSalam. What a gem. From the interior detailed decore to the absolutely amazing food. Was definitely one of my favorite restaurants in all Portland. I will make it a staple to go every time I visit this city. Also the staff is very polite and helpful and friendly. Five stars.

I am in love with this place. Introduced to me by Eat Adventures, a taste tour I took even though I’m a local, this was my favorite stop. The lentil soup was absolutely divine, and I loved the lemonade too. I’m anxious to try more. Plus just being in the high-ceilinged room with the beautiful murals and antiques was a treat.

The food was absolutely delicious. Best Arabic food I’ve ever had. We came back the next night it was so good! The baba ghanoush had so much flavor. I had the fish what was perfectly fried and crispy. My partner had the shish kabob plate which was . We’re from out of town otherwise this would be new in our restaurant rotation!

Shaymaa is wonderful …! Gorgeous, gracious, and very cultured young hostess. She helped me order, she held a convo with me beyond the basic “hi, hope are you?”. She made me feel warm and welcomed. She’s also part owner …! So for her to stop and have a 15-20min Convo with me was wonderful. She also waited on me as well, her manners are impeccable.
