NEVER AGAIN! This was my 1st and last time ordering from this place. I ordered a smothered chicken and a turkey wing dinner. It was horrible. The dressing, mac and cheese and the gravy were all watery and bland. The chicken and turkey were very dry. I even tried to doctor it up with more seasoning but to no avail. Soul food shouldn’t be bland or watery. I normally don’t give a review, I just never go back but this was so bad that I immediately threw it outside to the stray animals. Worst $35 ever spent. I should have cooked myself.

Food taste like hospital food lol, And answer the phone sometimes ♀️Back in the day I would’ve gave Dans a 10. But today you’ll get a 0 smh Please get some good cooks in your RESTAURANT!

Asked for extra gravy, it’s barely gravy at all. Chicken is old dry and hard to eat. Mac and cheese is hard, dressing is hard. Used to be one of my spots, not anymore

I know everyone has their fav soul food in Chicago but this is a decent contender. I went with the classic fried chicken, mac and cheese and corn bread and wasn’t disappointed. I did take out and service was great. There was parking on the street available too. I went at an off peak time so I didn’t have to wait too long.

Worst soul food I have ever had in my life. The dressing had no flavor the red beans and rice was horrid liquid and hard bean… the chicken was the only thing I can say gave this review a one star. I’m not sure who’s cooking or what is going on but I would never order from here again…

I does my best to try to support my fellow black businesses in the neighborhood but it’s a shame that sometimes some businesses what are Black people are just not worth it and this Has to be one of them! False advertising on Uber eats, substitutions without any type of options given to the customer first, no empathy or consideration after I called in to bring up the mistake. The young lady who got on the phone after it was passed and played off by the young man that answered I told her about the false advertisement and the substitution issue and the fact that it’s not my fault or mistake but yet I pay for it, she responded “Yeah, I know.”

I had a beef short rib with dressing, Mac and Cheese, & cabbage. My daughter had baked chicken with greens, dressing, and Mac and cheese. Everything was fresh, and very tasty. I only wish that i could have my first pick (rib tips). It was close to closing time so not to many choices. But very good choice for dinner. Prices are what I would expect for the meal. Worth it !!!

The Owner should reevaluate her original plan of having a original Soul Food Joint. This place use to be Really nice. But as usual the Workers don’t really seem to have the passion for working here other than getting a check. Customer service is the Key to keeping a business intact. Second you know when it’s gonna be busy so why not cook more, but to run out of food halfway through the day and not have anything but the passed over food is ridiculous. OohWee is right up the street and they conduct themselves in a appropriate manner. They even provide the customer with a re-usable container that is microwave safe. I have a bunch of them. Dan’s container is flemsy and always leaking as if that’s what goes along with saying you’re a soul food place. Come on Family and get it together I’ma give em one more chance. And tell buddy with the long hair net to lighten up and learn how to be just a lil bit more polite and listen instead of cutting the customer off while their speaking.
