The food was amazing! There was so much food, so much delicious food. Even my picky 6 and 15 year old daughters cleaned their plates. The biscuits were so fluffy and tasted so good. I cannot wait to go back. We also had strawberry shortcake for dessert and it was a hit as well. Sweet tea to drink, probably the best I’ve had. I would highly recommend this family style restaurant.

I was encouraged to visit here for my Birthday celebration. It was an excellent recommendation. It’s about an hours drive from where I was staying. Forrest took excellent care of me and was cordial, professional and effective all rolled into one. A very sincere and considerate young man. All the staff I encountered were very good. Food was homestyle comfort food served family style. I’m not sure the food could be better. Though two southern ham biscuits were plenty for me the waiter in the adjoining section kept repeating you could not get refills on the ham biscuits. That sounds like an odd statement at a family style restaurant. But it’s their place and they make the rules. I’m sure someone has abused their generosity in the past. As they are known for ham biscuits it just makes you scratch your head. One other inconvenience is they do not accept credit or debit cards but will accept personal checks and cash.

Best fried chicken ever!! Chocolate cake was delicious. Wonderful friendly service! The reason for the 4 rating as opposed to a 5 is because there needs to be more seating options when waiting on a table.

The food here can be hit or miss at times, and there is some missing consistency. At times the cake has the perfect sweetness, at others it is overly done- chicken pretty dry is juicy and tender… so on. Though that is the case, I love the restaurant’s interior and look, and the people working here are wonderful, super friendly and kind. The biscuits are amazing and more than worth the price of admission. Definitely worth a visit!

The service was impeccable, We expected to wait in line for a while but were pleasantly surprised with quick seating. The only critique is that some of the food wasn’t quite up to par, a few of the dishes were quite bland.

I’m from Florida visiting the area with my most special family. We stopped by for an early dinner. Being our first time eating at Dan’l Boone Inn, we were very impressed with everything!

Good fried chicken. Good dessert. Good ham biscuits. We found the staff to be friendly and attentive. We had a large group and they were patient and brought plenty of food.

I have visited several times, this time with a first timer. My 10 year old grandson and I were vacationing in Boone. I had already warned him that there would be a long line of hungry waiting people to get inside for the good food. However, to my surprise we got right in at 5:30. Of course, he thought I was pulling his leg. Anyway, we had the best server. He brought us a little of everything. My grandson even decided to try cole slaw, not his thing, but I sure loved it. Everything was delicious. Even the country style steak and chicken gravy, which, I’m not usually a fan of those dishes. It’s such a historic place, a great place to make memories with such a great atmosphere and wonderful staff members. When we left (with our ham biscuits in a napkin for the next morning), there was a long line wrapped around the porch. Then he knew I wasn’t kidding!

Dan’l Boone Inn is a must-visit for a taste of genuine Southern hospitality and cuisine. Whether it’s for breakfast, lunch, or dinner you cannot go wrong. Be prepared to wait but it is worth it. The all-you-can-eat family-style meals are always delicious, but the biscuits are reason enough for a visit all by themselves.
