We came here on a recommendation of a friend who had been here a few years ago. It’s a cute little spot by the river. We really liked the ambiance, we ate our lunch at the patio. The food was good, not the best I’ve eaten but good. However the customer service was definitely lacking. We asked for cutlery and we were told that they don’t have any. We have to go to our car to get forks but then our server came back and took the chopsticks back as well.

Tum Kanoon and a special they had; shrimp wrapped in homemade pork sausage then deep fried. Kind and knowledgeable servers. The chef came out to check in on the meal as well. Wonderful experience overall.

Mixed feelings about this place! I must say right away that the food is very tasty 5/5! There is nothing for children! We asked to cook a hard-boiled egg for a 9-month-old baby, they brought a soft-boiled egg. I once again asked for a hard-boiled egg so that the child could eat, they refused us, they said that they could not make hard-boiled eggs , what’s the problem? Made a problem out of nothing! Then they agreed, but again they brought a soft-boiled egg, is this some kind of joke or what? We paid $4 for these 2 eggs, I don’t mind paying that money, but my request was not granted twice!

This is some of the best non-traditional Thai food I’ve ever had! Dalaya is an absolute gem and Sylva is very lucky to have this amazing restaurant.

Most of the food was good, especially the shrimp dumplings, but they served the hanger steak almost raw and when we pointed it out they refused to fix it with absolutely no apologies. (Picture of hanger steak below)

If I could give more than five stars I would. The food was amazing. The suggestions made by staff amazing. Very unusual food. Never had anything like it. Met the chef and I was just totally blown away. You should go. We sat outside. It was delightful and it’s just this hidden gem in sylva so you should go

I’ll preface this with saying that the service and location are good. Unfortunately, the food options are a bit subpar in my view. They don’t offer basic stir fry noodle dishes like Pad Kee mao, pad see ew, or pad Thai, and the one stir fry noodle dish that they do offer was a solid 15 or 16 bucks with the portion size of a small salad, and pretty neutral on the flavor. Basically just noodles with some sweet soy sauce. Very disappointed since the prices are certainly premium.

This was a delightful find just outside of Silva. The atmosphere is quaint — there are just a few tables inside, but you can tell everything is made with love. The restaurant overlooks the river with huge windows, and that really adds to the ambiance.

Love this place! We lived in Thailand for six years and this is some of the best Thai food we have had in the US. During our stay in North Carolina, we ate here three times, it was that good. The catfish and curry are amazing. While the Thai food is fabulous, so is the atmosphere, service, and owners. Don’t miss a meal at Dalaya!

The northern region of Thailand, specifically Chiang Mai, has cuisine that is less ‘saucy’ and more like dry rubs. The spices are all recognizable as Thai and are very flavorful! The menu is an homage to the owner/chef’s origins. Be adventurous and prepare to be pleasantly surprised!
