So many family memories have started or ended with a trip to the Custard Hut and Pizza for LBI visitors since the 1950s! We have owned and operated since 1997 and committed ourselves to carrying on some amazing traditions to keep the fond memories of good times & good food going today. We have grown the ice cream shop to include a mouthwatering menu from fish tacos and cheesesteaks, to mac and cheese bites and burgers. Whether for a cool-down lunch break from the beach or a family sunset walk for ice cream, we are always here and ready to make your experience an awesome one!

What a ridiculous overpriced place huge menu and unsatisfactory horrible food. $3 dollars for small slice of pizza ( as you can see in photo) and a Gyro inedible and thrown away. Over 5.dollars for fries this small..OMG.. I don’t care where this place is they need a reality check. And before anyone comments I would see where I have eaten..

Smoky’s Retreat
Was short changed. Menu board said $6.25 for medium custard. Gave them a $10 bill. Got 33 cents change. Somehow to me it didn’t seem like an ‘honest error’. Never offered me a receipt. Lot of confusion behind the counter with 3 different people handling the process. And me being a perfect target. All consistent with some sort of scheme.

Ice cream and service are both great! However, I couldn’t help cringing at the sight of the workers handling money, credit cards, etc. then proceeding to scoop ice cream and grab cones with their bare hands. I understand the fast paced atmosphere, but I feel that gloves or hand cleaning are a must before handling food and ESPECIALLY after handling dirty cash…

The employees are local teens of various ages and all very nice. The prices are definitely higher than what you would find on the mainland, but it’s a vacation spot, so that is to be expected. The creamsicle custard is the best! Great location – parking is ample and plenty of outside seating.

We stopped here to grab a quick bite. It was busy so getting our food took about 15 min or so but it was good and staff was really nice. Afterwards we got ice cream to top off the meal.

Was not busy at all, and crazy hot. Poor employees. The girl shattered 50% of the $2 premium cone and handed it to me. She said it would be ok. I walked out the door, and threw it in the garbage, because I would be wearing the blue ice cream on my way home, bc there was no way it would stay together. I was trying something new bc it was close to my home. First and last trip to the Custard Hut. No wonder the other close on has lines all night long. Waste of a $20. Wish I waited to tip until both ice creams were made. Just lazy. Other places have owners working and that brings pride to what they do

Decent pizza, but everything else was pretty awful and our order was made incorrectly. The cheesesteaks were very dry and only had a few toppings that were sparsely placed, the crab cake was burnt, curly fries and crab sticks were burnt to a crisp. Would not recommend.
