Cousins took me out for lunch. We felt the need for pork and we settled on this place. The location is on a main street but there was plenty of parking as we got there early at noon. My go to is a Cuban sandwich and it didn’t disappoint. Plenty of pork and ham with extra pickles. I also saw the yucca fries and wanted those as well. It wasn’t over salted and was tasty. The highlights I thought were the condiment sauces they provided. I recommend the habanero sauce as it was delicious and totally not mouth searing.

Went with my team here when I was in the area. Found this place while browsing places to eat in GMaps. This has like an island feel to it. Very minimal seating inside 10-12 people, but have a good seating area outside. There are good veggie options to try. I ordered the fajita plantain sandwich. It was juicy and sweet because of the plantains, but also spicy and savory because of fajita which was well-flavored.

Now I can not say enough about this place! We went for lunch and had the Cuban sandwich, their Cuban version of a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, black beans and yellow rice, a beef empanada, 2 Guava pastries, a Cafe Con Leche, and a Guava cranberry juice. I had to take a minute and smell the black beans and yellow rice, it took me back home to Tampa where I’ve eaten Cuban food my whole life. It was the best black beans and yellow rice I think I’ve ever had! The bread was the closest to real Cuban bread that I’ve ever had away from Tampa! The Cafe Con Leche…… OMG!!!! How I miss it!!!! It was delicious!!! We met the owner, she was fabulous!!! Born in Miami and shares the same love of Cuban food that I do!!! They have been there for 8 years, and the menu is amazing!!! If you haven’t gone, you should!!! I would be there all the time if I lived there!!! I will be back when we are back in San Mateo.

I ordered the Philly steak sandwich with fries and a Mojito mint lemonade. The sandwich was delicious, the fries were over cooked and the mojito lemonade didn’t have mint leaves but it was refreshingly good. Felt instantly bloated so FYI it sits heavy. Might wanna drink some hot tea or go for a good walk afterwards.

Mojito chicken, Cubano sandwich, tostones, yuca fries and guava cheesecake! All delicious! Chicken had nice flavor and not dry! Tostones crispy and chewy! Service was good. They brought my takeout to me while waiting in parking lot! Thanks!

Ordered a Philly Bistec as part of a catering order using ezcater and very impressed. Very good potion sizes, delicious tender steak, chewy bread, nice blend of a Philly cheesesteak with Cuban flavors and heartiness. Probably wouldn’t recommend the fries as they do get soggy in the delivery process but even soggy they were still extremely tasty.

Got the Cuban steak sandwhich (recommended by Angel who was nice and helpful ). He also said the best cuban sandwhich was good too definitely gonna get that next time. Also got the maduros which were sweet and soft just like I like them. If the edges were crispy it would’ve been perfect!

Go ahead and look at my account. This is the first review I’ve ever left. That’s how good it was. Second time here and it’s definitely on our favorite list. Everything we’ve tried so far has been so good. Good portion size and at a fair price as well. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. The customer service is great. Very attentive and welcoming. Everyone working there has been very friendly and accommodating. If you live in San Mateo and haven’t tried this place yet I definitely recommend it!

The best cubano is true! Road side diner feel, which is good for family and decent date night.

This is amazing food. Wow. I love Cuban soda, Cuban coffee, my veggie medley, and my wife loved her garlic chicken. The customer service was very good and the food was outstanding. You have to go here. Yummy yummy in my tummy. This is one of my new favorites.
