7/23: Maybe we just visited at a bad time (summer Friday night) but while the environment was interesting and fun, the service and food were just average, if not a hair below. We had to grab the attention of a server to order our entree, and had empty cups for most of the meal. The food was priced to be spectacular and left each of us (party of 4) disappointed, even the kid’s chicken tenders. The catfish was flavorless; the burger was a plain burger; but the pork was at least aesthetically pleasing. Likely wouldn’t recommend.

Lots of potential with a pretty great space staffed by a collection of eccentric characters type place. Think college. As was in college, I was into this somewhat crazy scene then, but today, I’d prefer something either a little more refined or edgier. This place def can use some scrubbing a-la Joan Crawford. They should push the camp to the max where every single item, drink, corner, and molecule is screaming and serving face.

Absolutely quick & delicious food, great service, and loved the performance by Tara Hoot. Came Sunday right when they opened at 10am, and it was perfect since it really picked up and was packed by 11am. Shane, the owner, was also very friendly and introduced himself to every table. Crazy Aunt Helen’s has very cozy, welcoming, and whimsical vibes. Perfect for a date or casual brunch. Love that they have mocktails as well, Provence was delicious although not hot.

Geriatric hours. This is DC, guys. The kitchen closes at 9pm on Saturday night in Washington DC? What is this, Disney? Food is great, place is cute, staff is fine, but those hours… We were rushed to order, and when we asked for ice cream for dessert, we were told the kitchen was already closed a few minutes after 9pm.

We stopped here for brunch after a morning hike and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The atmosphere and service were both lovely, and we felt very lucky that we were able to get a patio table for brunch on Capitol Hill on a Saturday . This place really feels like a hidden gem further down from some of the busier restaurants. Their cocktails were so well crafted and their food hit the spot (would like to give a particular shout out to their homemade hot sauce, some of the best I’ve ever had). We’ll definitely be back!

Such an amazing time! We made last minute reservations for Brunch with Tara and it was absolutely perfect! If you want “drag brunch” ambience, but still be able to talk with your friends, Brunch with Tara is the way to go! Storm, our waiter, was great! Food was so good. The menu was not overwhelming with options and everything they make, the make well! The grits with pimento cheese *chef’s kiss*.

Wow! What a memorable and joyful place. I haven’t seen a restaurant with such character in a long time. The ambiance and decor are fun and cheery and the food is excellent (I had catfish and fries). The performance upstairs (that night it was Shakespeare in the pub) was very funny and had a spirited full house. I felt like I was part of a momentary community ❤️ And the entire staff is friendly, attentive, and goes out of their way to make sure their guests have a great experience. Definitely check it out!

I have now gone 3 times to get a tasting of brunch, lunch, and dinner, and each time that I have gone, I have been met with incredible service, tasty food, and good drinks.
