Cocktails, appetizers, and dinner…all delicious!! The black garlic sauce on the sirloin the waitress was very knowledgeable about ingredients and the way the food is prepared!

First time visiting and thought the food was great. I don’t usually go out to eat because the quality of food for the price hasn’t been worth it lately. However, the value and quality was definitely worth the price! We had the bone marrow and wings for an app. Both were really well done. Wife have the port patty melt and I had the grilled Duroc Pork. My porch chop was huge and cooked to perfection. Her sandwich was great as well. We will definitely be visiting again!

Crawford Cookshop might just be the most popular spot in downtown Clayton as of this review. This place gets packed. It’s a good idea to make reservations for dinner, especially if you have a big group. The staff is friendly ans efficient, no issues. Good size venue with a modern chic minimalist decor. I’m certain the entire interior was redone.

UPDATE MAY 2023: Over 6 months later, and the 5-star review stands! Once again I ordered the grilled trout, this time with artichokes, lemon, capers, and olives. DIVINE! Am I in Clayton, NC or Italy?!

This is a fantastic restaurant all around. My family and I had the best experience here tonight! Kirsten was our server and probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and made our first trip here one to remember. The pimento cheese, crab cakes sandwich, she crab soup, shrimp, and grits, and pork entree were all outstanding and we cannot wait to come back. This is what hospitality is all about, foh and boh nailed it. Great cocktails and beer too, and don’t forget that bread pudding for dessert!!

One of Clayton’s newest arrivals, the Crawford Cook Shop felt like a “must visit” since seeing its vibrant storefront from the street and hearing of its many accolades over the past months. They apparently bring “Americana” style food from a wood-fired grill to good old Main Street Clayton. this method of cooking allows certain nutrients and antioxidants to be retained in the food, which would otherwise be lost to slower cooking methods.

We had a group of 6 that went last night. We started with the Bacon Cornbread. It was a little dry, but the taste was ok. I think it could be made better by adding bacon into the batter. There seemed like maybe a little bacon in there, but not much. I also feel it needs more honey as a topping. Three of the group ordered the Beef and Cheese sandwich. They all stated it had good taste, but the meat was tough. I ordered the Braised Short Ribs, which were very tender. They were good but not like “Oh my gosh, that’s good!” Two others order the Crispy Chicken Confit. The beans were cooked but not mushy. I liked that, but the others did not. The skin was nicely seasoned and crispy. The chicken was juicy, which was good, but near the bone, it looked a bit undercooked. Our waiter said the chicken is slow cooked for over 12 hours, so it’s done. Ok, but it does not LOOK completely cooked, a bit of a turn-off. Anyway, I really liked the taste of this dish, more so than the Short Ribs. So I traded with my friend.

Amazing allllllll the way around! Lisa our waitress was so friendly and knowledgeable as this was our first time here. The drinks are perfectly mixed ( rare to find) and the food is impeccable. We tried the cornbread and bone marrow for appetizers, with a special of salmon tartare. Dinner was the short rib and Pork. Also tried the she crab soup and bread pudding was dessert. Hats off to the chef and owner !! When you come, take your time and savor the flavors of the food.

Great menu. Have the usual suspects, but then also changes a bit seasonally. Very unique and delicious. Food is always fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Drinks are very good and thought out as well.

One of my new favorites, grat bar tenders and good and fun ambiance. Food has great presentation. Love the bone marrow appetizer. Salads were okay but flavor was not the best. I tried the kale salad and I felt that it needed more sweetness to it. Other food choices looked great. Highly recommended for a date night or to hang out with friends. The place feels welcoming and with good class.
