Fantastic little restaurant that more people should visit. We went for breakfast one day and then lunch the next. The owner made our food both times. The biscuits and gravy were great. The veggie biscuit sandwich was fantastic and I loved the spicy Szechuan noodles. It’s one of the most affordable food shops in town. The proprietor asked us about our food and genuinely cared. It doesn’t look like much when you walk in but we had two very good experiences.

We checked google maps in Sister Bay for a breakfast/lunch option after finding out that Al Johnson’s Scandinavian Restaurant had a 90 minute wait…and we found one of our FAVORITE HIDDEN GEMS of our trip to Door County… CRAIN’s KITCHEN ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️… The tiny space is tucked away and recessed between two other businesses halfway up the hill on N Bay Shore Drive, a creation of a guy named Andy (Crain)… who loves to make biscuits from scratch and top them with aromatic homemade creations like the Chicken Pot Pie Biscuit that I devoured with joy. The chicken pot pie filling was concocted of stock made from scratch, so lovely!

Lovely little hidden gem with a lot of potential. The breakfast sandwich was good, the biscuits were fresh and light, and the food came quickly. I think there is opportunity for the place to be more popular. A few people came and went while we were there, not wanting to sit down, most likely because there was only one comfy/nice area to sit in and the atmosphere was not that welcoming. The tables and chairs were reminiscent of the 60’s but were lost in the lack of theme and no emphasis on the home-cooked-meal-esque but modern vibe I think they’re going for. The fluorescent lighting was harsh and uncomfortable. It felt almost like an at home BBQ × bakery with the metal coffee pots and cups with plastic cutlery. I think there is too much on the menu and it lacks organization. Midwesterners, as far as I know, like clear cut choices and a clear way to make them. The front counter is lovely and I really like how the kitchen is open and you can see the chef cooking. There is so much potential with this business to be more unique and cute and welcoming by making a few design tweaks here and there. But otherwise, it was delicious and fresh.

We stopped in on a whim and were so pleasantly surprised, we absolutely loved it! The specialty for breakfast is biscuits, with gluten free options. I got the chicken and dumplings biscuits, my husband got the green chili biscuits and our daughter had the egg sandwich biscuit. All of our plates were empty. The store is simple and cute and the staff who I assume is also the owner was so welcoming and wonderful. Highly recommend!!!

Super friendly and genuine service. The flavor of the homemade chicken noodle soup is wonderful. Great spot to enjoy a light meal outside in Sister Bay.

Okay, I’m going to try to be as honest and kind as possible. It’s very challenging to do both at times. Especially when it can be offensive.

The combination of flavors in my salad and sandwich were masterful. The cornbread croutons were especially unique and amazing. Also, thank you Crane’s Kitchen for spreading the delightful combination that is green chili and tater tots. It’s hard to find outside of Colorado but so good! Keep up the great work!

Some of the best food I had, everything is hand-made from scratch. The wait is worth it, the guy is welcoming and kind. I’m not one for biscuits, but wow they are terrific!!!

Enjoyed the breakfast and the atmosphere. The outdoor eating area is decorated with live plants and vegetables. The biscuits were fresh from the oven and the granola was still warm from being freshly prepared as well.

Just had a delicious soup lunch while waking through Suster Bay! What a cute and perfect addition to the Door County food scene. We enjoyed pozole, tomato soup and the home made biscuits! (Tip: order an extra biscuit; ours were gone in a flash).
