Im a huge fan of Cracker Barrel but this visit really really let me down. From the poor service , not even asking if we wanted muffins or biscuits, which is a staple at Cracker Barrel, and when they did bring us muffins and biscuits they were burnt on top. And on top of that they were out of jelly and jam. They were out of out of chicken. Waitress never came to the table after the order was brought to us to see if we needed drink refills. Here is a picture of what the termed a loaded sweet potato. Also a picture of the biscuits.

This location seemed a bit under staffed but the refills came in a timely manner. The food came out hot and tasted very good. I had the chicken pot pie and it was smaller than I usually see but the crispy crust on top with a creamy filling was excellent. The gift shop looked a bit smaller than I usually see but nice variety. We were on a road trip so didn’t stay long but it was a nice stop. It’s not as well marked on interstate as most but we managed to spot it in a heavily wooded area.

Clean store and excellent customer service. Food came out quick and hot. Chicken and dumplings were good, but a few dumplings were too thick and not cooked through. Fried apples were delicious. New squash casserole tasted burnt, and we sent it back. Green beans were great. Chef salad was amazing- fresh! Ranch dressing tasted homemade. Biscuits and cornbread were fresh baked.

My first time doing take out with cracker barrel. While waiting, we used the restroom, window shopped, chatted up a couple of passer-bys, located a great spot under a tree to park the van ( as we would be eating in the van) . For some reason, I was happily surprised with the quality of the food (as this wqs not our first rodeo) . My elderly folks had good looking and tasty burgers, my son’s chicken breast was tremendously moist and well seasoned, my breakfast for lunch hit all the right spots.

The food is good, but you have to beg for things, the cutlery is uncomfortable and dirty, the waiters get annoyed if you ask for things, it takes a long time to bring you things and they discriminate against you because of your appearance and the place is always cold. water drains from the roof.

I am a former fan of this restaurant chain. Last weekend I ate at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Davenport, FL. The service there was great! The food was even better!! I ate around430PM. (The portions were plentiful. I needed a “to-go” for half my meal. (I ordered the meatloaf, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, pinto beans, corn bread and buttermilk biscuits, and an Arnold Palmer drink.) This week I ate lunch at Cracker Barrel here in Tallahassee. It was a familiar and disappointing experience . (I ordered the same meal that I ordered in Davenport.) Joshua was my person. He was attentive and not annoying. Thank you . But the portions were less than 1/2 the amount I received in Davenport. The corn bread muffins were not even close to golden brown–which is the way I like them. The mashed potatoes were stubborn and stiff. The beans seemed overcooked. I ate all of my food but I didn’t have that satisfied feeling in my belly that I experienced in Davenport. But, as I said earlier, I’m a “former fan” of this restaurant. So, I knew what I was getting into when I entered the doors. (Perhaps, I should eat at this restaurant chain ONLY when I am not in Tallahassee.)

Cracker Barrel seems to have the code to uniformity down. To me, it seems like regardless of which one I go to, they are going to meet my expectations. I marked this one down on service just due to our specific waiter. He seemed to just be going through the motions without any real positive emotion toward us or his job.

The fried chicken was so overcooked I couldn’t eat it. Because we were on a tight travel schedule, I didn’t have time to have them redo my meal. I had asked for the broccoli to be extra steamed and it was still crunchy. The first set of biscuits were like hockey pucks, but they did bring better ones out. The manager Mike did take my meal off of the ticket.
