Some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. Didn’t expect to find this on this side of the country. Their tritip is especially fantastic. And the prices are very affordable. I’ve been meaning to explore all the restaurants here but i keep coming back to this one!

Little bit of a wait, but it was dinner time and the people ahead of me ordered a few thing. Plus I’ve been looking for a good French dip sandwhich. Well the wait was worth it! Sandwhich and fries tasted great!

The Cowboy Pit is one of my favorite places to eat. Jim and his wife Debbie make awesome Texas style BBQ that’s reasonably priced. So if you’re looking for great BBQ and you find yourself in Oldtown, ID., be sure to stop in and pay them a visit. They will certainly appreciate your business and you won’t be disappointed!

Worst BBQ I have ever had! Literally gave me food poisoning and threw every bit of it in the trash. Over $60 worth of food gone. The meats had absolutely zero flavor or even smoke taste to them. The entire bag of food had zero smell or anything. The meat was all slimy and Literally looked like a bunch of shavings and throw away meat. Full of nothing but fat/tendons and oily slime. The seasoning/smoke was zero no non existent and the pulled pork was drowned in cumin and oil. The sad part is that even my dog turned away from it when I tried to offer a piece of the brisket. If that doesn’t say anything about this place and their food then I don’t know what will. 0/5 stars in my opinion.

Kids and I enjoyed the food here. The owner was wonderful. Him and his wife run the pit and do a pretty great job with the food. Solid Texas BBQ flavors imo. None of my kids complained other than about the amount of food on their plates which we gladly took for leftovers for their dad when they couldn’t finish. Veteran owned, good hospitality and yummy food.

I will give this place a 3. 3.5 would be a better choice, but not a 4. We got brisket sandwiches. They were not bad, but I have tasted a lot better. Meat was on the dry side. We will try them again and order something different such as pulled pork sandwiches. A little expensive since a brisket plate is only $2 more and includes an additional side and a bread product. We are spoiled because we have been to the Midwest and nobody compares to barbecue there. Pacific Northwest has very few “good” barbecue places. But will try one more time at this place.

We just ate here last nite and are super impressed with the quality of food and the hospitality of the owners! I’ve never had better potato salad (dill w/o eggs), smoked beans, pulled pork, ribs or chicken. The meat was so tender and the seasoning just perfect. We took 2 pints of their homemade BBQ sauce home with us. And the portions are generous! We are looking for another reason to drive to Old Town just so we can eat here again and see our new friends. BTW we lost a wheel off our boat trailer leaving the parking lot and the staff offered to help drive us for parts & store our boat at their house, if needed. These are true Americans!!

This was our first time trying Cowboy Pit BBQ. They were out of both brisket and ribs, which was disappointing since we ordered at 4pm. We ordered the sample plate #2 and my husband alao got a hotdog. The bbq sauce is good. The pulled pork was the best. The chicken was dry amd mostly fat, the beans were bitter and the potato salad was bland. My husband enjoyed the hotdog, and the sausage was pretty good too. The tri-tip was just ok. We only received 2 toasts instead of the 4 advertised. All in all, we probably won’t be going back
