We had the most amazing country meal. I had chicken fried steak mashed potatoes with gravy a side of cabbage and a side of German coleslaw which was out of this world simply Delicious my husband had grilled chicken beets German coleslaw and cabbage. He enjoyed it tremendously. It was so good we got a large German coleslaw to take home and a side of cabbage we got what they had left because we would have taken the entire pot if they’d let us the food was delicious it was like going home. The service was spot on very clean very friendly and every table had someone at it. We highly recommend this place we live in Tennessee and will definitely be driving back to this restaurant in the future it’s 110 miles from our home so worth it.

What a pleasant surprise – we were traveling and pulled off of interstate 81 for gas and something to eat . Found the Country Kitchen on Google and decided to give it a try. I had the hamburger steak with okra and a salad and my husband had their fried catfish plate – both were cooked to order and delicious. The staff was the friendliest we have encountered in the three states we had been through on our trip. I highly recommend them if you are traveling!! Oh, did I mention that this was also one of the cheapest meals (by far) we have eaten.

We googled for restaurant passing through on a road trip. No idea what it’d be like. It was wonderful! Adorable county environment, staff super friendly and nice. The food was fresh, delicious, affordable, and fast!! Wish we could go back to try more. We left happy we chose to stop there

A great, out of the way diner, that all the locals eat at. Everyone was friendly, from the local who held the door for my elderly companions and then gave us a run down of his favorites, to the waitress who took our orders. The wait staff knew all the locals and called them by name.

We stopped here for lunch on our drive up I-81. It is a couple of miles off the interstate, in the center of tiny Rural Retreat, a nice small town. The service was friendly and fast, the food tasty, and the prices amazingly low. Where can you get a great sandwich for under $3 today? Here! I had the chicken fillet for $2.95. Incredible.

If ever passing by or in the area, please do yourself a favor and stop here. Quiet little place with an extremely friendly atmosphere. Waiter was attentive. Food was huge and absolutely delicious! For the price I wasn’t expecting to get as much as I did, but I got way more than I would have eating at a Dennys or other chain restaurant. 4 bucks for a plate size omelet? Sign me up everyday.
