What a wonderful spot! Right off the Trace, this seemingly small spot opens into a beautiful eating area with a cozy fireplace and dreamy outdoor seating option. The BLT and Club are set apart from all the others you’ve had because they use homemade bread and a house garlic mayo. We subbed onion rings and they might be the best I’ve ever eaten! I would also 100% recommend the broccoli salad- just try it and then go to the gift shop and buy the recipe cards!

Friend said the cheeseburger and Mississippi Mud Cake were the best ever had. My catfish plate (cornmeal/corn flour breaded) was similarly outstanding. Very sweet wait staff do a great job. There is also a gift shop with crafts and interesting food items for sale (i.e., frog jam, apple butter, cookies, chocolates). The setting can’t be beat! Highly recommend this stop on the gorgeous, historic Natchez Trace.

A great stop along the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway. The restaurant was added on to a historic building, so there is plenty of room for guests. There is outdoor eating available on a deck, but I’ve never sat outside. There are separate lunch and dinner menus. At lunch on a weekday, I enjoyed the catfish po-boy with broccoli salad, which was tasty and filling. Diners pay in the gift shop, which offers regional foods (jams, etc.) and a good selection of pottery items made by local students and other crafted items. There is plenty of parking and an accessibility ramp as well as stairs leading into the restaurant.

Worth the search. This restaurant is near the French Camp Academy. Blue Plate Special Mon-Fri. Deserts are very good. Reasonably priced. Gift shop is pretty cool. Plenty of parking. If you don’t know where it is, ask a local, Plenty of pedestrians in the area. It’s a project of the Academy. I went twice. On the way up the Natchez Trace and on the way back down.

Food was good, we got a burger, broccoli salad and dessert to share. The Ultimate burger was GREAT and the dessert was the best part!! Atmosphere was really nice and well decorated inside. Cute little giftshop that had handmade goods etc. We love French Camp and we will be back to eat next time we stay!

My wife and I had the blue plate special for the day which consisted of barbecue chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, and peach cobbler. We love the meal. Our server Savannah was charming and kind. We loved the butcher block paper on the tables. It really added a special touch for me. There was a nice gift shop in the house and we took advantage of that as well. All this proceeds went to help with the childrens home there. One sure fire way to tell if you are at a good restaurant is to check out the restrooms. They were extremely clean. That means that the kitchen must be clean. We were very pleased with our experience at the council house. Great job by the entire staff.

Four of us ate here about 2 weeks ago. We try to do so, when we’re visiting the area. We each had country fried steak, peas, cooked cabbage, and peach cobbler. All of our food was very good. Service was very good as well. Very reasonably priced too. We plan to go again, the next time we’re in the area.

If you’re traveling along the Natchez Trace and want to sit a spell for a great lunch in a beautiful setting…well, just try this wonderful place located in French Camp. The restaurant hosts inside and outside service. The menue is simple but offer a variety of great options for anyone. Our food was served hot, and portions were very filling. The waitstaff are personable, and the service is a treat – you are actually treated like a valuable customer. After your meal, there are several historical outbuilding buildings you can walk through.
