Nestled on the border of Venice and Santa Monica, steps from the ocean, Coucou is a celebration of aperitif culture. Inspired by the timeless bars and bistros of France, Coucou intersects traditional French fare with Coastal California produce and classic cocktails.
The food menu was developed by Bouchon-alum Chef Jacob Wetherington. The space is anchored by an arched bar, and embodies convivial elegance, offering fresh oysters, a Veggie-French Dip, and traditional French favorites, all of which pair perfectly with our ice-cold martinis, low-intervention wine, and selection of French Aperitif.

Cute little French place in downtown Venice! Cool and hip atmosphere. Great cocktails, too. We were impressed with their bartenders and drink recipes. Ordered fries and their famous soft serve sundae. Both were excellent. It is pricey, but that’s just LA. Two cocktails, side of fries, and the soft serve sundae cost $74 with taxes and automatic 20% gratuity.

Every single bite was DELICIOUS. Our entire group was gladly a member of the clean plate club. We are already planning our next visit so we can try the rest of the menu. Not only is the food amazing (flavorful, creative, cooked to perfection) but the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful. 12/10 experience overall. We love you, Coucou!!!!

My husband and I had an amazing dinner here last week – I can’t wait to go back! The owners nailed the decor, vibe, ambiance, everything was perfect – down to the vintage ice cream bowls… the food was beautiful, hearty, and very tasty… the cocktails were fun, a little something for everyone, and the service was super friendly. Such a great addition to Main Street and the West Side!!

My colleague and I happened to walk past Coucou less than a week after they opened. We’re so glad we did! We took a seat at the bar and were welcomed by a very friendly bartender who offered up some amazing cocktails, ceviche, and oysters. The ceviche had really special flavors and the oysters were fantastic. The cocktails shouldn’t be skipped! Each features at least one or two ingredients that really take it to the next level. Everything was terrific; the vibe is on point and the team is great. Try it out today!

Overall nothing was amazing but was not bad either food wise. Restaurant is pretty small but service was slow and not truly attentive. Asked if I wanted a second drink but never came back to get order. Brought one main out way before the other which was odd. Bread for the French dip just not very good. Bottom line as a French restaurant on Main Street it just does not compare to quality of food or service as Pasjoli. Was hoping for more but just did not get it. I would expect more as this is not really a new restaurant, more of a rebrand.

Had a wonderful date night here last night. It’s a really cute spot and we found everything to be super flavorful and delicious. Service was prompt, as well. Highly, highly recommend the fried olives and steak tartar (so good) for starters, as well as l’haute dog. We had the Hot Shot and the pisco sour for cocktails— both really light and refreshing. Be sure to save room for the soft serve sundae, it was awesome. They only opened just recently and the place was packed, which is great to see. Will definitely be back!

Food was OK and a bit overpriced. Service was ok until the end. They definitely tried to rush us out. (We were only there for ~1 hour with a bottle of wine, two appetizers and two entrees). They asked me three times if they can take my plate despite I told them every time that I am still working on it. The seating person came and took the wine ice bucket away while we still have wine in the bottle. At the end I just said check please before checking out the desert menu. They automatically added 20% service charge to the bill. We are party of two. If they don’t automatically add tips to every table, I guess they just add service charge to the table the service was not good?!

Good food and fun drinks. We tried a bunch of items from the menu including the tar-tat, oysters, fish, and more. It was all good, especially the tar-tar. The service lacked the fine dining experience. I had to request the table cleaned more than once even though the oysters were obviously done and sat there while new plates piled up. The staff is new and needs better guidance from mgmt in .my opinion. I will give it another shot if improvements are made I will update this review.

The cutest new French bistro in Venice. Amazing ambiance, and the steak frites were to die for.
