This was my first trip to Sigourney and when we arrived we found out that a couple of the other spots we were thinking about eating at were closed on Mondays. The Copper Lantern was right on the corner of the square. It had a great small town feel as a bar and restaurant. My party was made to feel like we were some of the locals as a couple of different nearby tables included us in a couple of their conversations. The service was great and the menu had a nice selection. Our party had a Western Burger, Breaded Tenderloin, Chicken Strips, and a Sampler. They were all excellent. The cole slaw I had as my side was good and two others had a side of potato salad that they said was the best they have had in years. We will have to try one of the steaks on the menu the next time we drop by the Copper Lantern.

Nice small town bar with a booming kitchen. This is a weekend hotspot with a classic Iowa bar menu with a few surprises. Beer selection is well above average for the size of the town.

Went in with kid (under 4) to eat. Was pleasantly surprised didnt smell of smoke and volume on music/tv was just right. Staff and locals were friendly. Our waitress was kind enough to share her favorite/preferred dishes. We ordered Cheeseballs, steak, tenderloin, and chicken strips, everything was to our liking. Got the drinks, appetizers, and dinner to us in a timely manner. Checked on us frequently and kept glasses full. Overall a nice experience and will go again sometime.
