I usually don’t leave reviews, especially negative ones.. but I had to do this one for the public good. The quality of the food here was just NOT acceptable — simply inedible.

The staff and chef Chung are amazing. So kind and welcoming with yummy viet food! Chef’s kiss to the flan – I would eat that every single day.

I’ve come here twice. Terrible experience each time. First my best friend visiting out of town wanted to try it. Her food was gross and took well over 30mins after mines to come out. When it was finally served, it was cold. Yesterday I went with my partner, his pick. He made reservations in advance. He ordered 4 different dishes, I ordered one. Over the course of one hour they brought out his dishes one by one. It took them ONE hour to serve a small plate of garlic rice. At that point I had lost my appetite and was turned off by the service, just wanted to leave. They clearly knew they messed up, comping our drinks in an attempt to make up for it. Also the cooks were kneeling down and taste testing the food with their bare hands, horribly unsanitary. Very disappointed with this place all around. Would not recommend to anyone ever.

Realllllly wanted to love this place but felt like it was just okay. Got the Lido bubble tea… should have asked for minimal ice bc I finished it in five sips.. the pho ga was under seasoned, asked for soy and that made it okay but I was disappointed at the lack of flavor. The mouthwatering chilled chicken dish was delicious and spicy. We also got the small broken rice plate, the pork that came with it was easily the best and most flavorful thing we got, I wish we would have skipped the soup and got the larger portion of the rice and pork. The flan was insanely good. The food was decent but the service was slow, it took us 50 minutes to get our food, which the counter person did let us know ahead of time but it was still frustrating considering there weren’t a ton of people ahead of us. All in all, if I were to go again I’d make sure I wasn’t starving before I got there and I’d make sure I never got the soup again. I’d go back just for that lemongrass pork belly though, truly delicious.

I’ve been going to cong tu bot for several years. The restaurant has always done a great job with treating staff fairly and serving a great meal. After dinner last night, I will not be returning. The dishes are no longer a good value compared the litany of restaurants in Portland. For a ~$20 dish I would expect a large appetizer or an entree but the dishes we ordered were quite small and did not come with rice. That being said, the staff and the drinks we ordered were fantastic. I hope cong tu bot moves back towards serving larger, more substantial dishes that present a better value.

Again this could have been 5 stars but once again issues with dishes running out and servers not telling customers! I came in here because I really wanted the lamb and it was already sold out by 7pm. Come on guys… All the other dishes we had were definitely flavorful and packed a punch. Service was a little on and off. We wanted quite a few dishes that were in the special menu which bummed us and definitely a hot noodle dish should be on the menu. They have no chicken by the way. Interesting… Give it your own shot but I can’t give it more than 3 stars.

This place is a treat! Absolutely enjoyed every bite and so well proportioned. If you aren’t getting the entree pho make sure to get a side of it because it is just too good to pass up. I’ll be sure to be back if I’m in town!

The food was delicious, we ordered three entrees, each one better than the next, the scallops, eggplant and congee rice on special – just wonderful. A melt in your mouth fruit desert! Bartender Meade and staff were engaging and efficient, can’t wait to go back!

Somehow the lamb meatballs were burnt on the outside but raw on the inside. Pricey for the size. Service was very very slow. Flavor balance didn’t work for me (eggplant very tart and smokey).

Loved Cong Tu Bot! Seriously the best Pho I’ve ever had;it was really well balanced. My husband’s dish was super spicy but he liked it and appreciated that they weren’t shy with the spice. The inside is really cool with lots of plants, a really nice vibe! We sat at the bar and while it was cool to watch the chefs cook with the open kitchen I would have preferred a table.
