It was a cold day and we really wanted Mexican hot chocolate. They made us Oaxaca chocolate in large clay jars with real cinnamon sticks. We had tlayudas and molotes, and I don’t even eat pork but the chorizo here is so good! It was perfect on the tlayuda with fresh quesillo.

First time here. The food was good, I had the 3 taco plate and all were good. My only complaint is that the margarita while quite delicious, was very small. Other than that everyone was happy with the food and drinks. Was also nice for Carmen to come out and chat a bit with us about her history and that of the restaurant.

We ordered the pizzadilla and it was amazing! It was large enough to share and was filled with tender roasted meat and cheese. The Chile relleno was prepared beautifully and was very flavorful. The service was great. I look forward to coming back!

My first experience at Cocina Del Carmen was picking up an order for someone. After hearing the passion the owner had while there regarding the cleanliness and pride in their food, I decided to come back and enjoy a meal within the week. I am happy to say it was a great experience. My gf was amazed at the amount of dishes that were available with vegetable options rather than 1 or 2 like many other places. She ordered the potato taquitos, while I ordered a childhood favorite, chicken mole. We were both impressed with the quality of the food. In addition the restaurant is quaint, clean, and has a very pleasant staff. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for the best in Mexican cuisine in Vista.

We couldn’t get chips and salsa until we asked the server for. Food was okay, nothing spectacular. A bit pricy for the quality of food. The Mole was okay but the chicken was just boiled and added the mole, not cooked with the mole.

This little hole in the wall Mexican place has incredible food at a great value. The first time I visited, we came in late, almost to the end of close. The staff was friendly and accommodating despite our timing, and even helped us pick out meals. I recommend trying their birria or their Tlayuda Oaxaqueña! I will definitely be visiting this place again!

The waiters were really nice . The only but I have is that the bring me the wrong order twice. I ask for a child water of orchata and the lady brought the big one and the water had a lot of the rice grind leftover in the bottom. Then I ask for chicken fries asada. And she brought beef . But besides that it was pleasant . I am not a big fan of Mexican restaurants because I eat Mexican food all the time so I am very picky about Mexican food. I did really like the tlayuda it was good and the meat was soft and juice. I will honestly recommend this restaurant for auntetic Mexican food. And they did fix my plate and were very nice about it.

I had the Tlayuda Oaxaqueña dish. It had a lot of cabbage then I would normally eat in any dish. I wish the meat portion were equally to the size of Tortilla. I mean if wrap it up like a burrito you would be disappointed meat to tortilla ratio with a lot cabbage filler. The Carne was overly seasoned. The pork was lightly seasoned. Service was great ambiance ok.

A friend recommended this place and she was right! Starting from el cafecito de la hoya, to the Tlayudas, the carnitas taco, & the horchata flavored water….we left super full and pleased! The staff was super friendly & attentive. The establishment is small but it works, they have one gender neutral restroom with a changing table for your little ones. To me that’s a big deal when you are traveling with babies! Just saying ! I loved the fact that they have a sink inside the restroom as well as outside of it to wash off before eating without touching the bathroom door! Again with this whole covid thing that’s a nice feature! We will definitely be back soon!
