The food was ok. Got the onion rings, and those were top-notch. I chose something I normally don’t get. But I decided on the Rarebit burger, which is a burger topped with cheddar cheese rarebit sauce. Served open-faced on a ciabatta bun. It didn’t really spark a wow factor. I probably won’t order it again. Our server was friendly and checked in many times. So great service.

We were in Des Moines for just a day and randomly picked Club Car Restaurant and Lounge for lunch. We were so glad we did. We love to try different and locally owned businesses. It is a very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. I know this sounds corn but it has a family vibe. It was busy for lunch, but we were seated immediately at a comfortable booth. Our server was friendly and attentive. My husband had the lunch special which was a barbecue chicken sandwich with bacon. He loved it. I had the Cuban Sandwich and I ate every last bite. We both ordered the potatoe salad as our side and it was home made and delicious.

I am so sad to write this review. I am a loyal patron of Club Car. My husband and I have always enjoyed our visits there. We went for dinner last night around 7:30p.m. And sat in the bar with the intention of watching the high school football game. The bartender was different than we have ever been served by before. He was younger and asked us for our drink and dinner order right away. The thing that turned us off was he was profusely sweating and kept wiping his face with his hands and then going on to make drinks and touch meal plates with his hands. Then he was talking to patrons he evidently knew and was swearing quite often. I am not a prude but in an establishment like Club Car you don’t expect the bartender to be dropping F bombs so freely. On a side note my husband got a rarebit and thought the texture of the sauce was off, it was very grainy. I hope they bring their old staff back. Maybe they all went to the new location in Ankeny. We would not be returning if we based it on our experience last night. It has always been wonderful in the past.

My wife, child, and I visited on Saturday, July 30th close to 8pm and was welcomed as soon as we walked in the door. We were seated right away and was greeted by our waitress, Megan, almost immediately. She was very friendly and informative. Megan even gave us some great suggestions to try and we were not disappointed with anything we tried! I would give this place more stars if I could. It really was a great place and we will definitely be visiting more in the very near future.

Great place for great food and amazing service! Our server, Kolby, was awesome! Went to lunch there with my sister from another mister, and we had a great time! The atmosphere was very welcoming. The food was amazing! All the staff we encountered were super friendly! The food is reasonably priced. Great family friendly place!

I had the Walleye which came with brocollini and a choice of baked potato, rice, or fries. It came out very hot. It was delicious. Brocollini was still crunchy which is the way I like it. The Walleye had more bones than I expected in a filet, but no big deal.
