When I think of southern food, this place was as if it was created from my envision. The owners, seen in the photo, same thing. It was like going back in time. Everything was basic and simple, the first time I ever asked to get a picture with the owner of a restaurant. Need I say the food was just as I imagined it would be. So happy I stopped here.

All I can say is if you’re ever down that way… STOP!!! Good bbq and some good home-cooked food by some friendly ladies!! I had the ribs (which were tender with a good bbq flavor) with mac n cheese and stew. I also ordered a pulled pork sandwich, thinking it was small. I was totally wrong!! You get a full-sized sandwich with a nice size portion of some good, juicy pulled pork!! My hubby went with chicken, black-eyed peas and fried squash with onions. Just some good eating (Did I say good again???) Oh, and we got 2 slices of homemade cake to go!!!

I live down the road from CJs. You think I would get sick of this place but NOPE!!! I could eat here every day! Their fried green tomatoes and fried squash & onions is amazing. Hell, everything is amazing and it’s made to order so it’s all fresh and oh, so good!

CJ’s is a treasure right down Highway 77 in Woodville where you will find wonderful barbeque and delicious down home fare. Prices are certainly reasonable and diners are able to eat indoors or on the porch, or they may choose to order take out meals. Homemade desserts are also available. Everything we ate was fantastic and we definitely plan to return to sample more dishes.

First, I’d like to apologize that there is like one bite of collards left on my plate, in the pic…but y’all. Seriously. Little roadside place, painted a bright yellow and red. If you’re too concentrated on your GPS, you’ll drive right by. We did, as I saw “Hot Country Cooking, Breakfast and Lunch”. Needless to say my hubby hit the brakes so quickly, and we safely flipped a u-turn and parked. Homey inside, and the longest menu that is not expected. Ms. Peggy took our order with a smile. The Sweet Tea, that was everything to be expected, arrived shortly. Next, the main event. When I tell you that these were hands down, the BEST Collard Greens that I’ve ever eaten in my entire life, I’m not playing with y’all. Write this one down. Singlehandedly, they transformed me back to eating at a friend’s, as a child. The warmth of the food, and those ladies’ souls, just surrounds you. The Fried Green Tomatoes were freshly sliced, hand battered, and fried to perfection. The Mac and Cheese was a blend, and out of this world. The Burger was big, beefy, dressed to the 9’s, and delicious!! I wish that we lived closer, because it is not often that you taste the love, from a restaurant kitchen…but boy oh boy, you sure do from here. Ladies, we’ll see you again. Stay true. All of our Love from Florida

More than just BBQ, don’t let the name fool you. If you find yourself heading south on Dogwood Rd, keep one eye on the left side of the road for this hidden gem. You can’t miss it, bright yellow exterior with an even brighter interior thanks to the beautiful Ms. Peggy. The food was fantastic and a welcome relief from the horrors of roadside failures. If you want southern food done right, or just a burger to quench your hunger, this is definitely the place. Be sure to try the homemade pie! We live in Florida, and will definitely hit this place back up anytime we are in Northern Georgia.

CJ is a great place to eat but they lost me as a customer today because I placed a order at 9 a.m. for 12 p.m. Got there at 12 and it was nowhere ready. They weren’t busy so that’s not an excuse. My food should’ve been ready.

If you are looking for a gooooooood home cooked meal, then look no further than CJ’s. It was so good, I had it two days in a row. For breakfast, I indulged in the salmon patties, cheese grits, and bacon. The cheese grits were some of the best I ever had. I left the table with a clean plate. If you want dessert, please get the sweet potatoe pie, it taste like heaven. I’d highly recommend this place. The staff was also very friendly.
