Cirino Style Calamari
our friends and customers at cirino’s italian restaurant in nevada city enjoyed this calamari for the past 30 years. people are constantly asking the secret of our calamari. it is as follows: buy only the highest quality calamari steaks, take the time to tenderize it to perfection, bread it in your own fresh house-made seasoned bread crumbs, sauté until perfectly tender and golden brown, never deep fry, serve with your own killer tartar and cocktail sauces and a wedge of lemon. the secret is, that there is no secret. we just care enough to try very hard to see that you have a good time. or simply order the calamari. i like to order a green salad or small caesar with my calamari. great combination! jerry’s wine recommendation: italian trebbiano d’ abruzzo. tucker’s beer recommendation: draft hefeweizen.

Perfect place to spend both NYE and an early anniversary dinner. wonderful wine menu and delicious food. The staff are so friendly and provide great service too! My husband really enjoyed the French onion soup that we shared as an appetizer! I wish we had room for dessert. Next time 🙂

I spent 12$ on this tiny kids burger with no fries. It’s financially frustrating. It came on toasted garlic bread. The party was well seasoned. But the rest was veggies. Thank you to the owner for the response. Quality was good but not the value for a picky kid.

We’ve been wanting to dine here for years! Finally had the opportunity this weekend! Super sweet wait staff & cool vibe. The Fettuccine Alfredo was super delicious but the Rigatoni Prosciutto (recommended by our lovely waitress) was so good! I couldn’t wait for lunch today to eat the leftovers! Thanks a bunch! We’ll be back soon!!

Phenomenal food, as always! My fiancé took me out for a birthday date. I ordered extra because everything they serve is SO good and even tastes GREAT the next day. I ordered the half artichoke and calamari appetizers. I only order calamari from here. They give you flat, battered, perfectly tenderized steaks instead of whole chewy critters or rubbery rings.

I was there for a buddy of mine’s uncle’s 97th birthday party. I am sure there was at least 20 people there. Our tables had 1 waitress that was amazing! She kept all of the orders straight including cocktail orders. Food was superb too. Great place to eat and good cocktails too.

I heard a lot about this place but the food and drinks disappointed me. It’s pricy and not worth it.

Great pesto salmon dinner (good portion, too) along with a shrimp pasta dish. The warm sliced French bread was baked fresh, and we had our basket refilled. Our waitress has been serving guests at Cirino’s for 17 years. That speaks volumes! Only personal complaint was the a/c was directed down onto our table.

Love the atmosphere here! Staff has always been super friendly. Staff is very knowledgeable about the ingredients in the food and how to accommodate different dietary needs. For example, the bartender asked if I wanted to leave out the noodles in my minestrone soup because she knew they weren’t vegan. I was impressed. They are happy to answer my questions and make me feel welcome to eat there. Awesome they have a vegan stir fried veggies entree…Would love to see a vegan pasta entree added to the menu as well!

Fun and funky old gold rush building and decor. Very good food in Sicilian and Maltese styles. Good bar and wine list. Good, friendly service. Old West style bar with booths and a large, separate dining room. Will definitely return.
