I felt like family right when I walked in! The patio seating is very welcoming and definitely feels like home. It over looks the river and gives a peaceful vibe. The owner, who also does the cooking, came to greet and check on us. Top notch! Then the food!!! Oh my! So incredible! The Italian Beef had a homemade au jus and the beef was very tender! Everything was delicious down to the blackberry mousse! Service was warm and engaging as well and the price point can’t be matched! I’m so happy we found this gem on our travels!

The homemade cranberry pecan chicken salad was delicious. The tomato soup is also homemade and made a perfect starter to the meal. Portions are more than generous. The husband and wife team were very attentive and accommodating. The back porch atmosphere was very friendly and relaxing. We took home chocolate mousse cake and it was amazing. Prices were very reasonable. Well worth the hour drive just to eat there. Will be our go-to restaurant for a day trip.

Spending the night in Savanna and one of our group wanted a good steak, I found Circa 1888 on line, booked our reservation on line also. Our group tried everything frrom the steaks, to the balsamic pork and panini’s. Everything was spot on even the delishes salads and house made dressings. To of us walked out the door with chocolate cake and the mousse! It was all delishes. Our service was impeccable, food wait time was crazy fast. Definitely recommend this

The service was very good, they refilled drinks without having to be asked and they were helpful. We sat on the patio, which was lovely. We enjoyed looking out at the river and watching the river and the occasional train go by. The German potato salad was great, but if you love French dip, it’s a good one, but not an amazing one. The only reason I did not give five stars was the time it took to get the food from the kitchen. For two sandwiches, it took more than 30 minutes.

Fantastic restaurant – completed our trip to Mississippi Palisades State Park for Mother’s Day. Their menu is mouthwatering, service is excellent, and the flowers on the table – I felt like I was their mom and they got me only the best flowers in the world!! My kids loved their food. I unfortunately was fasting that day, but I will say the iced tea was impeccable 😉 Really want to go back, it’s almost worth the 2.25 hour drive for me just to go here! Nicely done Ca. 1888!

Today was the worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant in a long time. My wine glass was covered in old food when it came out. Went to get a new one, same thing. We ordered the Raspberry cheesecake French toast and it was horrible. It tasted like straight dirty fryer grease. We told our server about this issue and handed it back. We still paid for everything and no manager came out to rectify the situation. Do NOT eat at this restaurant. It was not clean and you will regret it.

First visit to Savanna. The service, food and prices were all great! I’d definitely recommend without hesitation. The only negative side is I live a few hours away so I can’t frequent it more often! I had the philly cheese steak with provolone and a side salad. I’m not exactly sure what brand of ranch dressing was used but it was EXTREMELY good! My hoagie was great! My friends both ordered cheeseburgers, medium with everything on it and fries. The burgers were cooked exactly as ordered. If I’m ever in the area in the future I’ll DEFINITELY be stopping in for a great meal!

The food deserves five stars, but the service doesn’t. Our server didn’t know how to make a mai tai. He was unprofessional and didn’t know what to do with himself when he wasn’t serving.

A place you wouldn’t really expect in a small town like Savanna, IL. We were extremely surprised about the amazing variety of different options Jocelyn offers in her little, cozy, Chicago-style restaurant. Definitely not the standard bar food. A great range of offbeat dishes with good vegetarian options too. The outside area is stunning with an amazing view over the Mississippi river and a perfect spot for a sundowner.
