Cinco de Mayo in Murfreesboro impressed me with their food and service tonight. Sat at the bar and the bartender Maria took my drink order and brought me some chips, salsa, and queso while I reviewed the menu. I was vacillating over a few things and I asked Maria for a recommendation. She told me she could eat the shrimp tacos every day…I was sold!!! When the tacos arrived the savory aroma was incredible, you could smell the spices and the flame grill. Per Maria’s instructions I gave the taco a liberal splash of lime and proceeded to be impressed with the wonderful flavors…these are some of the best shrimp tacos I’ve ever enjoyed. The rice & beans were OK, the salsa mild with nice chunks of tomato and onions, and the chips were warm and crispy. I’ll come back just for the shrimp tacos…they were that good and Maria took excellent care of me!

I used to come by after church on the way to G’mas but discontinued it. I thought I’d drop by and see if anything changed.

The sever was not knowledgeable of the menu, dropped our food off and walked away, only checked on us once the whole time we were here. No refills on drinks. Moving on to the food.. for starters our plates were so hot they burned our fingers touching them as if they just came out of the microwave type of hot. The veggies were hot and super soggy from the plate being so hot or potentially being left out at room temperature. The rice was very bland, hard, and dry. The chips are great but the salsa is not so good. The salsa is very bland and watery because of the canned tomatoes. The fish was very dry and no flavor besides tasting like it had been in the freezer. All in all, bad experience and I won’t be back.

Pretty good. I’ve been here multiple times. The good is pretty good and staff polite. They are not always perfect but make it right. For a basic American/Mexican meal you are good to go. If you are looking for something a little more authentic with a wider range of Hispanic flavors there are better places but for what most people expect for Mexican food, they deliver. I’ll be back.

Food was fresh and tasted great. I got the lunch chicken fajitas. It arrived hot. The place was very busy. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. I will go back.

The restaurant itself reminded me of the real Mexican restaurants in Mexico and Texas. The food was good but not anywhere near the spicy levels that I am used to. I think it has been modified for the American audience. It was authentic, but not seasoned to my recollection. The tamale was good, although the masa was a little more firm than I would have liked. The meat was very tender. The taco was delicious, but I think it sat on the plate too long, because one side was a little soft making it a little hard to eat. The fajitas and the grilled vegetable plate with chicken was excellent. The burrito tasted good, but would have tasted better with a spicier sauce. I enjoyed the enchilada and the chile relleno. I am used to the chile being filled with cheese, but this one was filled with meat. Not sure if that is normal here or if was done because I said all beef for my dishes. All in all, good food. The srvice was great, and our server seemed to know some of the other guests as they were engaged in conversation. If you enjoy food that is not spicy and look for the authentic Mexican restaurant experience, I recommend this restaurant. Good first visit.

Had family come into town totaling 10 of us, called ahead 20 minutes to make sure seating for 10 would be fine and they assured us that it would be fine and we would only have to wait 15 minutes. 1 hour later and we are still not seated. We will not be returning to this place

We love Cinco de Mayo, but this time around, it was absolutely awful. Our service was slow and forgot our alcoholic drinks. We saw her 3 times. Took our drink order, brought water, took food orders, and dropped off check. When trying to pay at register the staff couldn’t figure out how to make change on a $100 bill for a $54 tab. If your looking for mediocre Mexican and horrible service… give this location a try.

My in-laws always take us here when we’re in town. The food is absolutely delicious, the service is typically quick and helpful, and the place has a good low-ley atmosphere.
