Chuck’s Bar-B-Q originally opened in 1952 on the North end of Herrin as a car hop type restaurant. It has been at its current location for 12 years under the ownership of Chuck and Janice Shahadey. In February 2013, Ryan Jeralds became the new owner, under the expert training of Chuck and Janice. We are super excited!!! Please join us for an excellent breakfast, lunch or dinner. Some favorites are the Breakfast Special, BBQ sandwich, homemade cheeseburgers, ribs and so much more!! We will keep all the Chuck’s traditional foods and will eventually add some new items. Used to be great food and fairly quick for a “BBQ joint” . I wish I could say the extra time it takes to get your food made it taste better but I would be lying if I did. For that reason, I will just leave my stars and not talk poorly about a once great place to spend some money locally that you got what you paid for…. never again. Maybe they have good breakfast or something I do not know. The staff was courteous and this review is in no way a reflection of their efforts. I just won’t be back again. Ever

First time ordering from here tonight an it won’t be my last! Used the drive through option which I love that they have that. Ordered 2 bbq pulled pork sandwiches as combos and those sandwiches were THICK! Also got my son a cheeseburger combo and got a side order of corn nuggets. The packs of fries we got were stuffed full as well which is awesome bc they tasted amazing dipped in the pulled pork sandwich sauce. Only came up to $33 an we were all full and happy.

Ordered food from here tonight. First time for our family. We ordered wings, bluegill, catfish, a burger and bbq by the pound. We haven’t tried the bbq yet but everything else was SO GOOD. And the portion sizes are very generous!! Thank you for good service and food. Much appreciated.

The service was friendly. I ordered the brisket dinner. Two pieces tasted reheated from yesterday and the other two were too tough to eat. The side salad was good but small. The mashed potatoes were good. They seemed to be homemade. But to be called a barbecue restaurant, the actual barbecue should be good.

We had the catfish dinner and bbq sandwich basket. Both were great! Fries are crinkle cut and always served hot and crispy. I love their baked beans. My husband got the Mac and cheese and it was the shell type and he really liked it too. Great customer service.

It wasn’t terrible, but I was expecting more. We got beef brisket, fries, spicy cauliflower, country fried steak, mashed potatoes, and cheese filled pretzel bites. The brisket wasn’t juicy, but it wasn’t dry. It has a nice smoke ring and smoky taste. The fries and cauliflower portions were too small. The potatoes were under seasoned/under buttered. I included a picture of the pretzel bites. They weren’t what we expected and my wife didn’t like them. Note: lettuce, tomato, etc., cost extra for your burger. All in all, I wanted more and better for my money.
