Bethel is definitely the place to be for outdoor dining and small town charm. I was craving sushi after having gelato and wanted to pop in to try Cho Sun. The owner and her son were very pleasant, social and great to talk to. The restaurant was beautifully decorated on the inside with cultural aesthetics. I wasn’t really interested in the selection of cocktails that were offered and usually get a Lychee or Pear Martini when having Japanese. They were out of the ingredients to make both the Lychee or Pear Martinis. I tried the Ginger Blossom but did not enjoy the drink and couldn’t taste any of the other components but ginger. I ended up ordering the Japanese Mule which was good. We ordered the Philly Roll and the Crunchy Roll. I felt they were both ok but didn’t wow me necessarily. Maybe it was just the rolls I selected. The server was great, friendly and accommodating. We sat on the porch outside which was great with the warm weather. On street parking easily available.

We LOVE the ambiance of this restaurant! Except for the temperature. we’ve been a few times this winter & it’s way too hot in there, always! However, it is absolutely beautiful inside and out, but the service needs improvement, A LOT of improvement. Food takes FOREVER to come out, always. We were there for over an hour and a half before we got any of our orders and even then more than half off us had to wait even longer while the others at the table had their dinner. They don’t bring appetizers quickly either & you have to specify if you want them 1st. We had a reservation for 7 of us and they acted very confused when we arrived right on time, we stood there in the way of existing customers for about 20 minutes while they got the table ready for us. They asked us each individually if we wanted water, we all said yes please and they continued to ask each person and needed us to hand them our glasses, & then they ran out of water in the pitcher before we all had some and they never came back to give the last person theirs….The Cham Pong (seafood soup) is the best item on the menu, it’s a huge portion with a lot of seafood in it. The sushi is okay, but nothing special.

I never write negative reviews, but I need to regarding this experience. We called ahead of time to ask if they would have a table for 7 in a few hours. It would be totally understandable if they didn’t! We’re very nice people! We received attitude over the phone that it will be crazy busy and they will squeeze us in outside. We were told we had 15 minutes to make a decision. Without taking that interaction as a warning sign, we showed up when we said we would to a completely EMPTY restaurant. You can tell these workers do not care about customers period. We were anticipating on ordering entrees. We wanted to have a fun night out at a Japanese restaurant. But after the incredibly rude attitude of our waiter (same man on the phone) we got the check after drinks and a couple apps and took our business elsewhere. Sad that this restaurant is the biggest inside joke from my friends Bachelor party.

After it was recommended by the innkeeper at our B&B (Holidae House–great establishment), we tried Cho Sun. The food is great. Neat decor–furnishings are attractive. Convenient location in downtown Bethel. They (like most places) seem understaffed as we and other guests had to wait for tables to be bussed in order to be seated on a Wednesday night later in the evening. Menu reads that BiBiMap is supposed to be mixed tableside, but is not served this way. Prices are high for the area and portion sizes. “Try Le Mu Eats or Kowloon Village for great food at more reasonable prices,” suggested another merchant in Bethel after I informed them I’d been to Cho Sun.

This place is fantastic. Amazing sushi, awesome outdoor patio with couch seating, and even better service. We brought our rather tired and nosey 4 yr old and every single server who visited our table stopped and gave him some attention when he had something to say/ask. The owner Scott even came out and talked to us about our dogs while my son peppered him with questions. We will definitely be making this a regular stop on our Sunday river trips!

Maybe my expectations were a bit much, based on prices and location, but this is a good place with cool atmosphere and enjoyable eats. Remember, this is a 0-5 scale, 4 is worth your time and belly; I just wouldn’t go far from my way for…

Great atmosphere and surprisingly good bibimbap. Tuna tataki was also delightfully tasty and well presented.

Best sushi ever here it’s more than just delicious it’s extremely appetizing. The wings are also a great selection appetizer as well as the soups! Pre-covid i loved going to there soup bar they hosted in the Sunday River Lodge, hopefully it’ll come back around sometime. The restaurant is great, customer is very friendly and welcoming, the style of the space is very elegant but is casual dress. Great place selection of food to stop in with group or couples.

We had the Tuna and Seafood Tempura. Tuna was good, Seafood Tempura was horrible.. greasy, pieces all stuck together or broken, thrown on bed of watery shredded whatever it was. Presentation was awful. I was comped a gift certificate for my meal.
