I’m pretty surprised about the food that I got this evening as I do order frequently not a lot but frequently from China Star here in Monona. I’ve never had a reason to complain before but I just have to share this. I ordered the Mongolian chicken and it tasted good but I had eaten about a bowl or so and found literally VERY little chicken but onions were not in short supply. The photos show the truth. Onions galore but very little chicken. I think I mistakenly ordered the Mongolian onion dish. Disappointed to say the least. I understand that things have gotten more expensive and especially chicken might be in short supply but I also value my money and what it can buy me and this was just not a good value at all.

Atmosphere sucks, service is barely rateable, but their food is amazing. They don’t just serve the standard Chinese restaurant junk that everywhere else seems to sell, they’re at least twice as good as most comparable restaurants.

Incredible portion size and value for money from this Chinese restaurant. We ordered two entrees with rice, the to-go bag was downright heavy, and the cost was a mere twenty dollar bill. Tried the hot chicken and vegetable and the moo goo gai pan, both of which were very good. There was enough for a large dinner with leftovers for next day’s lunch!

I got Mongolian beef, which is what I always get anywhere I get Chinese food pretty much… It was the most bland Mongolian beef I have ever had. It tastes like slightly salty nothing and has no spice to it. I saw an earlier review saying it was too spicy, maybe they over corrected? My partner got “Pancakes” for his side expecting the kind of Chinese pancake with scallions and it was a stack of tortillas with bean paste… Overall I have never had food this bland from any other Chinese takeout place. Won’t be going back.

Quick service. Egg rolls are delicious, especially when dipped in sweat n sour sauce. We ordered sweet and sour chicken and chicken fried rice.there are no veggies inside the chicken fried rice. We were used to having peas and other types of vegetables inside the chicken fried rice this place does not have that.
