So this is the second Chinese food place I’ve legitimately enjoyed in my life. The food quality and taste reminds me of a place I went to all the time back in Maine and honestly, with how homesick I’ve been lately it’s been a significant comfort. Food is always tasty, comes pretty quick, I’m a happy camper. Downfall, my wallet hates that I’ve discovered this place haha.

I would leave 0 stars if it were permitted. A coworker and I ordered lunch via the Beyond Menu website for delivery. The food was great and it didn’t take long to get here. However, the driver demanded a tip from the person who picked up the food. We added a $4.00 tip online when we were ordering. The owners or managers of this place need to be giving their delivery staff their tips but they also need to let delivery staff know that asking where their tip is also not okay.

This was our first experience with China star and won’t be ordering again. They dropped their menus in a pile inside the front door of our apt so we thought we’d give them a shot. It took almost an hour to get here. Their crab Rangoon was very chewy almost seemed like it had been just sitting there for a long time. I’ve had better at buffets. My husband got egg drop soup to which he normally loves but said it was super thick and not good. We ordered sesame chicken and governors chicken to split. The sesame chicken just was very tough and chewy. The sauce was okay but the chicken itself was not good. So after a few bites I asked my husband how the governors was without telling him my experience with the sesame and he said Eh it’s pretty tough kind of like cat maybe. (Joke but exact words) we also got the pu pu platter, the pot stickers were just awful really no way to put it. The egg rolls were delightful I actually would go just for the egg rolls which is why I gave them an extra star. Overall not a good experience. Not impressed. Probably won’t go back but if you were starving it was at least edible.

Food was good! Portion was not small and was very tasty. The service was great, we made an online order for a later time, the food was hot and ready and on time . Two meals were under $20 and was way to much for my son and I, we could have shared one. Certainly well be dining here again.

Food was ok, nothing special. Very little portion for lunch as well. When it came time to check out, the only card I had on me was my rewards credit card. The lady proceeded to complain about how much she gets charged for rewards cards. She brings out her statement to show me how much. She said do you have another card or cash on you. No I don’t I should be able to use whatever card I want. She was trying to make me pay for my card fee becaue she said she wouldn’t make any money!! Raise your prices then, don’t complain to me because it’s not my problem. She hardly greeted me when I came in as well. I would avoid this cheap unprofessional place!

I feel like I have finally found the Chinese take out I have always been looking for! Delicious, fresh tasting food that doesn’t leave you with a greasy feeling. Quick, friendly service at a nice price. Glad to have them in the area!

General chicken, the meat was dry and tough. It seemed like it was old meat that they re-fried so it would be hot when they gave it to me. Also cost $9, when I could have gone across the street to hy-vee and got the same thing for $6, except the meat would have been fresh. This was my first and last visit to China Star.

China Star, aka China Garden isn’t worth the money at all. The Orange chicken was clearly frozen for a very long time. Freezer burn on the meat, and it was clear that it was frozen breaded. I live a block from this place, and would go to the hyvee across the street before ordering from them again.
