I saw this place in East Haven ai was out for a bike ride. I’ve been craving Chinese food and haven’t found my go to spot yet. I ordered shrimp in lobster sauce and tofu with mixed vegetables. Both came with rice, and my total was about $28. There’s enough food for three or four meals. I’d definitely go back! This Chinese food spot is hands down the best!!! Every time I order from them late at night I get really hot fresh food!!!! Ya straight fire!!! And they put all the extras without me asking. China Star cooks extremely heavy with oil and all the food is shiny and just smothered in grease. The chicken fingers were overcooked as were the wings. They could use 1/3 of the oil and cook the food just fine. Food just sucked overall.

Order total came out to 61 dollars and was told if I paid cash I’d get a free soda. Came back 20 minutes later with 80 Dollars cash in hand. Hands the money over and was told no to the free soda because I owed a dollar. I say gave you 80 and the man behind the register checks again and questions if I gave him 80 and I say yes. In front of 3 people he checks again and gives me my change back asking for 2 dollars back. Still no free soda if I ever order again I’ll just use a card.

I wonder about the cleanliness of this place behind the scene. This past weekend I found multiple hairs in my order of Lo Mien. A few months ago, I found a cockroach in my order. I also was at the restaurant with my wife and we witnessed someone splashing soapy water around and into the soup bins which were clearly exposed. We brought it to their attention, but no one seemed to understand or care what we were saying…Just making everyone aware of these disgusting issues that seem to be a pattern.

We absolutely LOVE this place! Egg rolls are HUGE & SOOO DELICIOUS. The beef lomein is amazing. Wonton soup is always perfect. I can see why they’re always so busy! We get take out & delivery, & the delivery has been excellent & on time every single time.
