This is our **favorite** Chinese restaurant, which is funny because it’s in a mall. We’re not exactly mall people or around the corner from it, but we’ll specifically go to the mall JUST for this place! Michael is always super friendly and recognizes us as soon as we walk in. I guess you could say it’s our “go-to” restaurant for “to-go” Chinese food.

I wish they told me the dumpings were chicken instead of traditional pork or I wouldn’t have ordered them. Had to wait 15 minutes for them and didn’t even eat them because I hate chicken dumplings. Also, the coconut chicken sauce was good, but had too much dough and not enough chicken. Pretty disappointed in the overcooked string beans since it’s hard to mess them up but the fresher ones were great 🙂 Positives are that this is my favorite chicken and broccoli I’ve ever had! Not too salty but not bland, the chicken was tender and had great texture; the broccoli wasn’t over or under cooked and took the sauce well. The lo mein was also perfect! It was saucy so it wasn’t just dry noodles. The chicken terriyaki was tender as well and not saucy but still flavorful. My boyfriend doesn’t eat much chinese food but he finished all of their bourbon chicken so that’s saying something! Will be back soon!

It’s currently 5am. I am writing this to say that I am near certain that I received food poisoning from this place. I had orange chicken and a drink. It was my first meal all day. To keep this from being TMI: I have been put through the wringer since 11pm last night. I will never eat here again. The orange chicken wasn’t anything special anyway. Go elsewhere.

Fried rice was very good as was the General Tso chicken. The beef in the pepper steak was chewy and had an odd taste so I don’t recommend that. The pepper and onion in the pepper steak was good, though. The service was very friendly (middle aged man and young girl). I don’t know why other people want to slander this place (autistic cat? Seriously? Grow up.) with their one star reviews. They don’t seem credible to me. I would definitely eat there again. Big plate of the general chicken next time.

This food is cooked in oyster sauce. I am highly allergic to shellfish. There should be a sign!!! I told the girl I could not have shrimp. She was so concerned selling me another entree for only a dollar that she missed the fact that I was allergic. Who would think broccoli and chicken are done in shellfish? When I tasted the food I went right back and confirmed it was and she said oh sorry. No refund!!! $8.00!worth of food in the trash and a, thank God, mild reaction.

I don’t venture inside Montgomery Mall very often. I do remember the food court but China Max may well be new since my last visit because I thought that space was occupied by Nathan’s or something like that previously. Anyway, the food is standard food court Chinese fare — a bit on the greasy side but they have all the stir fry items one might expect, including classics like beef & peppers and General Tso’s Chicken. One plus was the service. They’re eager to serve and if you go near closing time, you’ll get offers to double or triple the serving size for very little money because they want to clear the serving trays.

Locals: Don’t eat at China Max in the Montgomery Mall. This is the second time we’ve found whole bodied insects in the food. The first time (last year) I let it go as a fluke. This time I demanded money back. They told me they could only give me half if my money back since my daughter are half of the food. It didn’t matter to them that she found the fly after she are half of it…

Had a great meal. Good thing I didn’t go on what the reviews said or I would have missed out on a hidden gem

Stopped here for 12 pm lunch. All foods were so cold. I guess they are leftover from yesterday. Asked for microwave and they melted the container. Didnt even bother to replace the container. will never come back again.

China max has very bad service especially the older lady who was giving out samples… I went up to her and asked politely if I could please have a free sample of whatever she was giving out… She just looked at me and said no and turned around because I just wanted a free sample. I would rate this place as a negative 5 cause how bad the food and the service is.
