We ordered take out last night. One order of shrimp broccoli and one order of General Tso chicken. The food smelled decent but once it hit the plate it was a different story. One bite into the broccoli was hard and the shrimp were over cooked. After combing thru the shrimp broccoli after three bites I noticed something weird in my food. A small baby shrimp that was black as black could be. At first I thought it was a hot pepper but it was absolutely disgusting. I tried eating one more shrimp but the food was unflavored and tough. My husband starting eating his General Tsos and the shape of the meat looked different than any other General Tso’s . Same thing, meat was hard and disgusting and overcooked. Three bites in and he was done. We had two egg rolls with our meal that was the only edible thing honestly and nothing special, equivalent to what you may have on a buffet somewhere. We are severely dissatisfied with the quality of the food and the total cost was 35.00 for both meals to land in the trash after just a few bites. The appearance of the restaurant was also disgusting. As you stand to pay at the register, look behind you at the station that is absolutely disgusting with all the grease and you can stand to see where the open kitchen looks like a dungeon back there and definitely not the cleanest. I have not been here for many years and The dining room looks run down with the floors coming up. I actually had second thoughts after my observations of the restaurant as I was waiting for my food to be prepared if I should just walk out and say screw this nasty hole in the wall restaurant “ I hope I don’t get sick from eating here” I encourage you to read all the one star reviews as this by far is not an exaggeration of my experience. We were thinking of calling and complaining but after reading how the owners address their customers I don’t doubt that asking for a refund would have even happened. I wouldn’t dream of feeding the food to my dogs. Thank God we didn’t get food poisoning from this disgusting establishment. Shame on you for serving your community inedible food and having a disgusting, filthy establishment.

China Kitchen is located in the heart of Shepherdstown, WV. From the moment you walk into this establishment, you can feel the vibe that it is an authentic Family Owned Chinese Restaurant. I was greeted by the owner and her, I assume, her daughter. Welcoming people and quaint atmosphere.

I go into China Kitchen pretty regularly as I’m in my senior year at the nearby university. My advice is get the lemon chicken. I dunno what they put in it, but it’s seriously delicious. The fried rice is also consistently good. Lunch prices are really reasonable and portion sizes are just right (for me anyway).

First off I got greeted by a rude lady. I’m guessing she was the owner. This is my first time eating here. I wont be back the rice had no flavor I asked for sprite and got a zero sugar sprite lol my wife got sweet tea and it tasted horrible. My water I got when we first sat down had some sort of bug in it floating. We ordered chicken meals and both our chicken was too hard and crispy to even really eat it. I mean how do you have rice with no flavor. The only edible thing we got was the broccoli. I wont be back. If I could leave a review without a star I would. We paid and left with all this food on the table

Absolutely the WORST Chinese food I’ve ever eaten in my life! Not another soul in there should have been our first clue but the rude owner said “been here 31 years, of course it’s good”… apparently, she was talking about the rent? Do yourself a favor and fast that day

Awful experience. DON’T EVER EAT HERE!! I BEG YOU!!! Ordered the curry chicken and wonton soup. The restaurant was empty when I went around lunch time but I have it the benefit of the doubt. We wanted to eat somewhere else but the power was out across the street. The soup tasted oily and the chicken was crunchy.

The restaurant is not clean. Walked by the kitchen on the way out and was horrified at the grease going up the wall. Tried to order a bunch of appetizers and beers. >50% of menu was unavailable (for reasons unexplained). We at two bites of the items we ordered, paid and walked out. The food did not taste good at all.
