In 2003, Ben Dixon opened Chicora Alley restaurant and bar in Downtown Greenville with Caribbean South fusion cuisine and live music entertainment. His Falls Park restaurant became a local sensation. In time, he adjoined to the neighboring building. Increased space added seating and a second full bar. Families enjoy restaurant dining separate from guests attending weekly live music performances. Chicora Alley Downtown is a favored dive bar in Falls Park for private parties and event catering overlooking gorgeous Reedy River views. In 2018, Ben opened another location in Travelers Rest, giving Upstate South Carolina renewed testament to the Chicora Alley Restaurant and Bar chain success.

Seriously some of the best food and service you will find around. I’ve been a couple of times after it was recommended to me. I walked in and immediately met with one of the friendliest bartenders I’ve had. Even though she was working on setting up the bar (I literally came in as they were opening the door), she took out time and gave me the low down on everything. I get my order, and I’m blown away by how good everything is! I about melted on my seat after eating their fried jalapeño peppers. My second trip was over the weekend. Again, it was the same story with a different cast. I walked in and immediately greeted a super nice and fantastic host. I got seated, and my server was exceptional. He was super helpful and made some great recommendations. I order and get my food, and I’m once again blown away by the flavor. Whoever is in that kitchen cooking gets five stars too! If you want delicious food with excellent service (at a stellar price, too), you’ve found the spot!

Lawd have mercy – Chicora Alley did not disappoint! This very unassuming restaurant has a skilled staff of cooks that you shouldn’t miss out on. We started with the pimento cheese which was delightfully spicy and served with chips that can be ignored because you’re gonna want to get to the warm pita bread beneath the chips. Next up was the crab cake appetizer. They were medium sized and served over a cream sauce and hit the spot. Guys the entree you don’t want to miss is the jerk plate. We went with the grouper and never looked back. This was jerk grouper served over a bed of rice and black beans with fried plantains and mango to help temper the spice. We would recommend taking a Kleenex for the spice but it was perfect and exactly what you expect when ordering jerk. Next up is a huge call out for Emily our server – she managed our table perfectly and was working all of the tables and was also our hostess. She was very pleasant, promptly delivered all of our food and overall had a huge positive impact on our experience. And lastly – because at the time of this post I’m in a boot, post foot surgery – there is a large flight of stairs to reach the entrance; however, they do have a nice ramp available should you need assistance. Giving them 5 stars for the food and service and highly recommend!

We used to go when this restaurant was in Mauldin. We remembered liking it, so we decided to try the downtown location.

Great food, good service, and a lovely atmosphere. It was nicely air conditioned when we came in, giving us a break from the heat.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Chicora Alley, but I am so glad we decided to visit again last night. We had a party of 13 which is a lot for one server. Our server, Savannah, did a wonderful job! She got our order correct, was very attentive, and extremely friendly. The rest of the staff were all smiles and thanked us for coming. Customer service that great is hard to find these days, and it was nice to feel so welcomed. The food was phenomenal! My sister said that was one of the best tacos she’s ever had. Thanks to Chicora Alley for a great dining experience. We will be back!

This place is adorable and the food is pretty good! Only thing that makes me give them 4/5 stars is that my mother and I sat outside and were practically attacked by flies while we tried to eat. I’ve eaten outside at many restaurants, and I’m not unreasonable when it comes to expectations, but the flies were INSANE. We were swatting at them our entire meal. We put our plates aside when finished and on my plate alone we counted 12 flies. They really need to put some kind of treatment outside.

I went there with my family based on the website info, but the restaurant is changing staff and the menu was limited. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The manager (or owner) checked on us to make sure everything was good. The food they were serving was more southeastern US than Caribbean, but it was fresh and delicious. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the food was on our table about 10 seconds after it was prepared. In the end, we all loved it and agreed that this place is a find. I definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area. Know that the entrance is hard to find and up a flight of stairs, but the place is worth the trouble.

Pleasantly surprised to find this in downtown Greenville. It’s upstairs so be prepared to take a good flight of steps to get to the restaurant. Greeted quickly and seated quickly as well. The views to downtown Greenville were amazing! They do have a sit down bar area and several places for regular seating. Our waitress was helpful and definitely checked on us to make sure everything was good. The nachos were so good and even split between 2 people was more then enough, I’m sure 3 good eat these. I liked how there was an option for half nachos or the full plate which is what we got. They had a couple vegan options so my daughter got the burger, they accidentally brought us a regular burger but thankfully we got the error and they quickly got us the right one and took it off our bill. Definitely hoping to make it by here again, great dinner!

BIG N-O! I read somewhere this was featured on America’s best restaurants tv. one of the best restaurants? They lie. We got there and no one was there. Maybe that should have been my first sign , but the reviews! 9 people- 9 different plates and we all had appetizers. “Special cheese blend”- normal Mexican cheese dip from Walmart flavor. Chips so stale I couldn’t even crunch. Cold fries even if they had been hot not sure I would have enjoyed them, hamburger Dry. Sauces blah. Definitely not what I expected from a very highly rated restaurant. Never will be back. Also the menu online it’s wrong we tried to order things off instead of a normal
