First time going here. Wanted to check it out. Wasn’t impressed. The portions were too small with what the cost was. Spent over $20 for this. Would have made sense if the food was really good. Mediocre at best. Barbecue sauce was watery. The spicy gochujang sauce was bland, not spicy at all, barely any taste. Cheese curds were ok, very oily at the bottom. The popcorn chicken I couldn’t finish. I like crispy but this was almost crispy enough to break a tooth. After I finished eating I started to not feel well. Food didn’t agree with my stomach.

I got the full shack with side salad and shishito peppers and my mom got the waffle sandwich. We both loved our food the chicken was breaded nicely and juicy not dry at all and the peppers were cooked perfectly.

I really enjoyed the look and feel of this place. The service was very friendly if slow. The waitress was the only service staff I saw. The food was hot, yet I had several issues. There was a lot of lettuce on the Deluxe Shack Chicken Sandwich, and the fries that came with it were mostly small broken pieces and over cooked. The chicken was cooked properly, but there was a strange seasoning in the breading, perhaps parmesan cheese? The macaroni salad was good, and the biscuit was the star of the trip. It was flat-out amazing. Overall, it was a swing and miss. Might try again in the future.

The food was pretty good, my husband really enjoyed the spicy Tennessee sandwich. I was really excited for the waffle chicken sandwich but it ended up being extremely sweet, too much syrup or some kind of sugary sauce on it. I was expecting a bit of sweetness but this was overbearing, if you just want a bit of sweetness it would be good to see if they can just put the sauces on the side. The french fries were great though, they are the hand cut style. The place seemed understaffed which I have sympathy for however it took 15 minutes of us standing at the counter for either of the two hosts to even acknowledge we existed. It would have been nice if they had said there was a bit of a wait or that they’d be with us as soon as they could, but instead they just continued on with tasks at the desk right in front of us but acted as if we didn’t exist, very strange. The service was decent once we were seated though.

Great moist and tender fried chicken. The fresh fried okra was also awesome, especially with their spicy dipping sauce. The self-serve order kiosk was intuitive. I understand this place can be pretty crowded. I now understand why it is popular.

The service and atmosphere here are excellent. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and promptly seated. The food and drinks came out quickly after being ordered. We ordered several items from the menu so that we could get a good sampling, and everyone was excellent, except for the Hot Mess, which had the potential to be amazing but wasn’t (see pictures). I ordered the Shack Tennessee Hot Chicken sandwich, and it’s the best Tennessee Hot Chicken I’ve had outside of Nashville. I’ll definitely be back to try more items from the menu!

The Schack (CS) has some delicious chicken in Anchorage! CS has numerous savory, sweet, and or spicy options to go with your chicken entree dish, be creative. And, the staff are polite and accommodating. Enjoy!

The day has come when I found a chicken spot on the west side of North America that does their chicken with the right amount of crisp and softness. It’s spot on…but of course it’s smack dab in the middle of Anchorage!

This place is a great concept with great architectural design and amazing food. Farm-to-table is an often claimed concept, but here it’s done properly, and with a unique identity that makes you want to come back for their chicken’s signature crisp. Great for lunch!

Ate here for the first time today with my kids. I got the Tennessee spicy chicken sandwich and it was okay. It looked delish but as soon as I started eating it the breading would fall right off making a huge mess and making it hard to eat. The chicken tenders did the same thing, breading fell right off. The sauce on the sandwich was bomb tho. What I did enjoy was the blueberry cobbler, it’s to die for! It’s pretty expensive to eat here too and the food doesn’t seem to justify the price IMO. The waitress was super nice tho and attentive so I’d definitely give her 5 stars! I’d come back for the cobble or cheese curds but that’s probably it.
