The chicken was cooked perfectly and the breasts were huge, but the food did take forever, even though it wasn’t terribly crowded when we got there. I would order ahead if possible. We’d come back though! Very friendly staff and the seating area was spotless. Prices were pretty great too.

These don’t exist where I live anymore so a few years ago I was skiing and drove past it and had to turn around and get some. It was as good as I remember and I hadn’t had some Chicken Coop in 15 years. It had been 2 years since then and we were going to be in the area and decided to stop in. Worth every penny without a doubt. The best fried chicken I’ve had since the last time I was there. If this franchise would ever decide to come back to Elkhart many people would greatly appreciate it. The staff was very friendly and I would gladly stop in again if I happen to be in the area again.

Magical fried fish. Chicken Coop is an institution–a classic that should be revered as the god of fish and chips.

On Friday nights they have all you can eat fish and it is amazing we love it! But any night, chicken and/or fish is always wonderful! All the sides are real good and seem to be nice and fresh. I really love their coleslaw!!! Oh my gosh,,, now that’s just what the right thing to always hit the spot! My husband loves their gravy, I even have to admit, it is!

The lady behind the counter doesn’t know what to do if the chip in an ATM card doesn’t work so tells me my card doesn’t work forcing me to leave to go to an ATM. Upon my return, we wait another 10 minutes for our food without a thank-you or “you’re welcome” when I thanked them. She just dropped the food and waddled away.

We came at 7 pm on a weekday. With one person in front of us, it took at least 5 minutes before we were able to order. We were given free drinks because of the wait. Once ordered, it was another 15 minutes before our order came. Being in a bit of a hurry, we wished we would have gone somewhere else.

Been to other locations and they are fine, normal fast food quality, but this location, we ordered from them on Sunday and my family has been sick ever since, and it’s now Thursday night. We figured out it must have been from the food here because my sister ate with us that night and has been having issues too. My mom’s co-worker had similar problems after eating food from here as well. Other than the food poisoning, it’s fine, and I’d consider eating from here again if I knew they fixed whatever caused the problem.

Consistently good chicken for years. Fish is good when fresh, but gets soggy if to go. Sides are alright but not great. Service varies — Sometimes really great and fast, but often peak times mean extremely long waits for being a fast food joint.

A quick lunch stop at the Plainwell location because we had a coupon and WOAH – my life will never be the same. It may be simple, but they know how to fry chicken and fish like nobodies business. The fish fillets were thick and hot; just the right amount of batter hugging meaty deliciousness. The chicken strips were tender and juicy. Mac and cheese was perfectly basic. And the sweet potato fries were crisp and hot. Fast food cooked to order, brought to your table hot and fresh.. life doesn’t get much better. Next time I need comfort food there will be no question about where to go because, man – do those geniuses at Chicken Coop know the way to my heart.

EXTREMELY unhappy experience !!!!!!!!! Went for all you can eat fish deal, waited extremely long for first three pieces of fish to show up at our table. So we had them put more in right away. 45 minutes later we actually received two pieces of fish each and that fish was extremely overcooked and disgusting. Needless to say we spit it out and left. If you advertise all you can eat fish then maybe you should be able to keep the customers supplied with all you can eat fish. One star is way too many but it won’t let me select zero stars.
