The food was horrible. Ordered 3 main dishes and sides of fried rice. All three main dishes had tender meat, but it was slimy and had an off-putting flavor. Cooked vegetables were raw, sauces had no flavor, and after sitting for about an hour, they looked and tasted like water. Fried rice had zero flavor and barely any other ingredients besides rice, which itself was very hard like it was reheated leftovers. Worst meal I’ve had for as long as I can remember, and that’s not an exaggeration.

Ordered take out and general tso chicken was raw. Called and they were very rude about it and acknowledged that they’ve had an issue with the frozen chicken then hung up on us. Wouldn’t recommend.

[I did not eat here] I’m sitting in front considering an order, but the reviews changed my mind. The dump across the street is uninspiring as well but reviewers here are saying it’s better than Chen’s. [I did not eat here and wont- food lion it is!

We decided to eat here tonight. My mom thought this was the same food chain as the one in Richmond but found out it wasn’t when she asked the waitress soon after we sat down. The windows were nasty, boxes in the floor, a fish tank half full and nasty, kids playing at a table and the cleanest thing in there were the bathrooms. The food was disgusting and served out of date beer. I had returned my food and asked that they take it off the bill and they wanted to discuss what we ordered for about 5 minutes. Against better judgment my step sister decided to keep hers which she did not eat. They are getting one star for the simple fact that you have to give a star to send a review and two when my mom suggested half off the food nil they did not argue the point and gave it. Really we shouldn’t have paid a dime. Some may think it’s a great place however our first experience there will be our last.

I have visited different Chen’s locations and hesitate to write this critique but hope it will serve to improve the restaurant. Overall appearance is poor: back wall upon entrance has wine bottles on display as well as Chinese decorations but is littered with books, papers, office supplies, half-empty drink bottles, various non-food items for sale and other clutter. The front tables held electronics, school work, pizza. boxes and books used by the family. The aquarium was half-full of murky water with one fish clinging to life. Initial service for drinks, food orders and appetizers was reasonable and got worse. Entrees were slow to arrive and didn’t come together so you either ate in front of your party that didn’t have food or let yours get cold. Food was lukewarm at best, floated in congealed sauce, and chicken items appeared to be from a box. Spicy items were bland. The bill was equally slow to arrive and process. The staff was friendly but didn’t seem to want to be there. If the place were cleaned up and gave a good appearance I would give the food a second chance. Otherwise I am going to assume what I get outside is what I get inside and continue to another restaurant.

We ordered from them for the first time today. My order was ok, although not as good as Hong Kong, my boyfriend’s shrimp toast first piece was ok, but the second one was completely rotten. He called just to let them know (didn’t even want a refund or anything) and the lady was rude, called him a liar, and wouldn’t even acknowledge that it was bad. That is not a good way to do business. I’m also reporting to the health department because they are going to make someone very sick.

Great service and food. Very friendly, if you are debating between going to Chen’s or Hong Kong across the street trust me and go to Chen’s it is better in every aspect.
