Chef Tony is a Chinese restaurant at the Courtyard by Marriott in Monterrey Park, California. Looking at their online info, I had high expectation. Overall, I was disappointed. They charged premium prices but delivered average quality. I had lunch there on a Wednesday. At 11:30 am, the restaurant was almost filled. The place was noisy and was worse than most Chinese restaurants. The acoustics was horrible. The noise seemed to be bouncing from every directions. The Steamed BBQ Pork Bun was below average. The filling was dried and stale. The Shrimp and Pork Dumpling with Truffle presentation was sloppy and the taste was average. The Deep Fried Pork Dumpling was under cooked and the filling was watery. I had a few other dishes, simply not impressed. Since they presented themself as a high-end dim sum restaurant, my disappointment was relatively big. With 20%-40% higher pricing than other better local Chinese restaurants and the average food quality, I crossed out Chef Tony from my list.

Chef Tony is located in the hotel. Although the environment of the store is not very high-end, it is clean and comfortable; the price of dim sum is slightly high, but it is still acceptable. The most important thing is that the taste is really good.
