I saw the long line outside, and did some research on this place while I was finishing up some work with a client. This place is really a local favorite and I can see why it is so popular. The flavors are really wonderful and probably what you would expect from an authentic home cooked meal from your favorite family chef. We had the yams, greens and meatloaf. Normally I don’t like meatloaf all that much but this was some of the best I ever had. Will come back when I am in the area again to try additional items. The pictures from the other side of the counter doesn’t do this place justice. Go for yourself and experience this food. So much yum.

I’ve been going to Chef Marilyn’s since I was a kid when the food was delicious and worth the money. Now, I tell you their food and service is horrible. I don’t know who the chef is but, the yams and Mac and cheese are gross. I can make better food than them. Also, I ordered a salmon dinner from them, but instead of them calling me to let me know that they ran out of salmon they gave me fried chicken and still charged me the same price. I never received a refund and I was hung up on when I called to inquire about my refund. Horrible food and customer service, don’t waste your time and money.

My mom went to get some food yesterday I wasn’t with her so I don’t know about the staffs customer service, she ordered 3, dinners 2 meatloaf and a short ribs dinner. 2 of the dinners sides were greens and yams and 1 was yams and rice. We thought rice always comes with meatloaf but i guess not its considered a side. The greens were ok I have some left over I need to cook them a little more. The yams were ok just not enough either vanilla and or nutmeg. The meat portions are good I guess, 1 big piece of meatloaf and 1 short rib.

They have food pre cooked and buffet style. You pick what you want. They have a lot of choices. It used to be 99 cent per dish except meat, now each item is way higher. I once ran into Bobby Brown getting food here I think like 2005 or 2006.

The food should be presented in a palatable manner. I felt like a prison line up for food. They need an interior decorator. While the food was okay could have been better the presentation was very poor. Whoever made macoroni and cheese needs to learn and collard greens looked horrible

We were talking and the girl said we were fighting. We weren’t even arguing. Lol. A man just told us that he was behind someone and we said ok. She took it as fighting. Also they didnt have hardly any food. The spaghetti was all meat no noodles. Lol. That comes from being skimpy during the week giving a bunch of noodles and little meat!

Everything I had was amazing. A few friends and relatives told me about this place. And I’ve must say the food was the truth for reasonable prices

Food was excellant, I appreciate getting to the restarant at 6:55 pm and because I had just left the hospital in pain and wanted some real food and by the time I got out the car a minute or so after they closed and the employee open the door to serve me food. I love Marilyn’s

I use to love this place. But the food do not taste the same I don’t know if the cooks changed but the food is not even seasoned anymore.

Serving southern soul food from ham hocks, ox tail catfish, cornbread, okra, black-eyed peas, mac-n-cheese, to classic fried chicken, you’re guaranteed a very comforting meal from Chef Marilyn. Their budget-friendly menu offers 99cent items, mains from $2-9, sides $3 or less, and desserts for $3-4. When my boyfriend and I went there was a bit of a lineup, but the wait was totally worth it.
