They win the Best Margarita contest every year in Pagosa Springs. Not only is it the best Mexican restaurant in town it is also THE BEST RESTAURANT IN PAGOSA.

Portions are really big. The shredded chicken has that distinct flavor of chicken that comes in a bag or a can. Lots of refried beans to fill the gaps. Decent marg made with mix.

Excellent service and awesome food. I was skeptical being from Arizona originally and living in New Mexico for the past 18 years. But it was really good food. I had the carne asada plate with rice and beans and I really enjoyed it. The waitress was very attentive and friendly.

They have the best chili pork verde! We are from Texas and this is always a must stop on our visits to our Pagosa Springs vacation house. It is a small place and you might have to wait. Hang around because it is worth the wait.

Super busy, full tables with about a 20-minute wait when we visited.

Overall okay. They are a little stingy with the chips and salsa (which were tasty) as they only offered one small salsa cup for 2 people and never offered anymore. The pork tamales were our favorites. For the price and quality it was decent but not amazing.

We were visiting my sister-in-law and her husband in Colorado (we’re from California). And their food at Chavelos was great, can’t ask for a better tasting food. A must go to, you won’t be disappointed.

Delicious, authentic Mexican food! Margaritas were tasty too. Place was packed. All the locals seem to go here so you can trust it.
